PRODUCT MANAGER – SEM Strategic Core
Specialty Engineered Materials, SEM, is the go to segment for our customers when they are facing the most challenging application dilemmas. Reporting to the Sr. Product Manager EMEAI, the Product Manager provides leadership in strategic product marketing (market views, segmentation, and multi-generational product planning) and platform definition for Avient’s SEM Strategic Core products. This individual is a thought leader who performs independently and has demonstrated the ability to effectively interact and influence peers and the next level up in organizations (Avient and Customer).
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
The Product Manager is responsible for:

6. Gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
7. Gross margin percentage expansion.
8. Vitality index growth.
9. Vitality GM targets.
10. New product launches.
11. Engagement of customers and the business leveraging key tools such as situational analysis, sales & marketing plans, the POL process, EVE tools, the pricing quote tool, marcom resources, effective product launch kits, etc.
12. Ensures that product introductions support the specialization strategy and meet the launch requirements of the POL process.
13. Monitors business results. Supports Strategic Plan in conjunction with management in each region.
14. Establishes clear measurement and management of product profitability, and proactive management of product mix.
15. Generates and monitors effectiveness of sales campaigns, advertising programs and technical literature. Ensures products sales records are analyzed and performance is evaluated against sales targets. Monitors product gross margins and profitability against control standards. Reviews product prices, approves price deviations, discontinues unprofitable products, and implements price increases.
16. Develops or reviews product forecasts for management approval. Monitors business results. Initiates and updates Strategic Plan in conjunction with management in each region.
17. Oversees the development and introduction of new products with sales, research, manufacturing, and distribution. Develops technical literature, advertising campaigns, definitions, specification, and performance standards. Develops, reviews and coordinates product promotion, technical presentations, and advertising through marketing staff and Marketing Communications.
18. Ensures customer and Avient sales personnel receive continuous technical support in the form of up-to-date product application technology, training, and problem solving. Develops contacts with major customers and suppliers. Conducts executive marketing/sales calls to maintain customer contact, promotes sales efforts, evaluates market trends, and develops business at target accounts.
19. Works with Environmental Health & Safety to ensure products meet local, state, and federal / country regulations.
20. Attends various trade/organization functions to develop business contacts and gather market information.
21. Supports and is committed to Avient’s LSS improvement process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties.
22. Coordination, support, and participation in the NPD process and the situational analysis system.
23. Develop and implement the strategic marketing direction for the product platforms.
24. Creates value proposition for the industry focusing on the customer.
25. Drives measurement and tracking activities including market size, market share, and ROI.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
26. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business or Technical discipline (e.g., chemistry, (industrial) engineering).
27. 5 to 15 years of experience in a technical or commercial role collaborating with various functions, ideally in the field of marketing/product managment.
28. Strong leadership skills paired with a high level of both written and oral communication skills.
29. Marketing excellence: demonstrated depth and breadth across the entire marketing discipline; able to develop broad strategies and drive operational details.
30. Able to effectively coach and direct personnel in marketing sub-disciplines to achieve results. Ability to communicate at different levels within the organization.
31. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Powerpoint).
