Your role
The Director of IT Strategy and Operations (m/f/d) plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic planning and execution of initiatives across Symrise's global Group IT department while ensuring that the function operates efficiently and achieves the defined digital transformation, innovation, and acceleration goals.
As a sparring partner to the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO), you will ensure alignment with Symrise's digital transformation agenda and drive overall IT performance. In addition to responsibilities such as financial planning, strategic sourcing, and supplier and demand management, your role will include developing people capabilities, an integrated plan for the function, and strategic communications.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Develop and implement IT/Digital strategies that align with the company's business objectives; collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize IT initiatives
2. Drive the coordination of IT transformation efforts across multiple streams, including technology, people/organization, and processes such as implementing the operating model; initiate cross-platform IT programs
3. Contribute to the objective setting process for the function and support with cascading these objectives throughout the organization; track progress and ensure timely achievement of goals
4. Oversee the financial planning and budgeting process for the IT department working closely with the Finance Business Partner, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and monitor expenditures to achieve financial targets
5. Manage relationships with key vendors and suppliers, working closely with the Procurement Partner to negotiate contracts and ensure the delivery of quality services and products
6. Drive demand and portfolio management in collaboration with IT leadership to ensure timely delivery of IT services based on various internal business needs by developing and maintaining a demand management framework for efficient prioritization and request management
7. Lead initiatives with the HR Business Partner to enhance the skills and capabilities of the IT team by implementing training programs and career development plans to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
8. Create and maintain an integrated planning framework for the function, focusing on key initiatives and ensuring alignment with overall business goals
9. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communications related to IT strategy and the Office of the CDIO, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all stakeholders
About you
10. Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
11. Significant years of experience in a similar role in a corporate IT function with a strong background acquired at a top strategy consulting firm such as Bain, McKinsey, etc.
12. Proven experience in IT strategy, planning, and execution
13. Documented track record of leading and managing digital transformation projects and initiatives
14. Financial acumen, entrepreneurial mindset and proven experience in budget management, cost optimization and financial planning
15. Strong result orientation and negotiations skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and external partners
16. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage demand and deliver IT services effectively
17. Experience in people capability building and team leadership
18. Strong internal stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
19. Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
20. Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills in an international, multicultural environment
21. Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential; additional languages are a plus
