Join Prior Labs Who We Are: Prior Labs is building breakthrough foundation models that understand spreadsheets and databases—the backbone of science and business. Foundation models have transformed text and images, but structured data has remained largely untouched. We’re tackling this $100B opportunity to revolutionize how we approach scientific discovery, medical research, financial modeling, and business intelligence. Our Impact: We aim to be the world-leading organization working on structured data. Our TabPFN v2 model, recently published in Nature, sets the new state-of-the-art for small structured data. Our models have gained significant traction with 1M downloads and 2,500 GitHub stars. We are now building the next generation of models that combine AI advancements with specialized architectures for structured data. Backing and Momentum: With €9M in pre-seed funding from top-tier investors including Balderton Capital, XTX Ventures, and Hector Foundation—and support from leaders at Hugging Face, DeepMind, and Silo AI—we’re moving rapidly toward commercialization. About the role You'll own and develop the core infrastructure that makes our foundation models accessible and scalable. As one of our earliest engineering hires, you'll have the opportunity to shape our technical infrastructure but also your own role as the team grows - whether that means specializing in areas you're most passionate about or growing into a technical leadership position. Initial Scope Design and implement production-grade model serving APIs (currently https://github.com/automl/tabpfn-client ) Build comprehensive monitoring, analytics, and observability systems Develop secure, GDPR-compliant infrastructure Create robust deployment and load balancing systems Implement usage tracking and quota management Design scalable data storage solutions Growth Opportunities As our team expands, you'll have the flexibility to: Specialize in areas that match your interests and strengths (e.g., ML infrastructure, Backend Development) Build and lead a team of engineers Define technical strategy and architecture for new product initiatives Qualifications 3 years of experience with backend software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture Experience building production-grade APIs with FastAPI What Sets You Apart: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field Experience in a technical leadership role Contributions to open-source projects in related fields Experience building ML infrastructure or collaborating with ML research teams Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) Experience with data privacy and security best practices Interest in foundation models and their applications Location Offices in Freiburg, Germany - a university city at the edge of the Black Forest, Switzerland and France, and Berlin—a global tech hub and one of Europe’s most dynamic cities Benefits Competitive compensation package with meaningful equity (€ 70K - 110K, open to negotiation equity) 30 days of paid vacation public holidays Comprehensive benefits including healthcare, transportation, and fitness Work with state-of-the-art ML architecture, substantial compute resources and with a world-class team
