The Government Relations and Public Policy team covers a wide range of responsibilities: government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships. The mission of the team is to earn trust and prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok.We are seeking a dynamic Economic and E-Commerce Public Policy professional to join our Government Relations and Public Policy team. This person will play a crucial role in advancing TikTok's mission by navigating complex regulatory landscapes in the areas of economic, e-commerce, competition, and consumer policy. The position requires expertise in relevant policy/legislative areas and public affairs experience in DACH. The ideal candidate should be a highly flexible problem-solver with strong communication skills and will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive approach to managing risks and unlocking opportunities to drive awareness of TikTok's value for local economies, small and medium sized businesses, and consumers. You will become part of a global public policy team committed to delivering our vision for a safe, joyful and creative platform. You will be dealing with the most interesting public policy challenges of our time, helping contribute to the success of the company. Responsibilities - Stay abreast of emerging policy trends and legislative developments in economic and consumer policy space in general and the e-commerce space in particular;- Provide insights and advise to internal stakeholders on potential implications for TikTok’s business and operations;- Lead on the development of public policy positions and advocacy campaigns in DACH, aligned with the business strategy;- Build world class relationships with relevant stakeholders, including policy makers, legislators and business associations, to help achieve public policy goals in the areas of economic, e-commerce, competition, and consumer policy;- Manage relationships with agencies and relevant trade associations.
Minimum Qualifications - 7+ years of experience working in public policy and advocacy work, and a strong understanding of what makes effective government relations and public policy strategies successful.- Strong relationships with key stakeholders in the policy areas in focus;- Deep understanding of legislative, public policy and regulatory issues affecting e-commerce / online marketplaces / competition / consumer policy;- Excellent written and oral communication skills;- Fluent in German and English (English is the working language of the company);- Strong research, analysis, and project management abilities;- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated interest and/or experience working in a tech environment (company or other organisation);- Professional network and experience in Austria and/or Switzerland would be advantageous.- Experience working independently and a passion for tracking big challenges;- Strong teamwork skills;- Motivation to learn and grow, as well as motivate and inspire others;
