The Civil Engineering Corporate department of Munich Re F&C (Facultative & Corporate) provides bespoke insurance solutions to the global civil engineering and selected industrial sectors. Our department supports brokers, owner/operators and construction companies worldwide and is responsible for project (CAR/EAR) as well as operational (CECR/IDI) business.
To complement our dynamic team, we are looking for a dedicated engineering underwriter with a background in civil or industrial engineering. Your field of activities will be varied: the role encompasses not only underwriting, but also all client management and business development activities.

YOUR JOB
1. Acquire, assess and profitably write corporate civil engineering business with a focus on project works
2. Complete risk assessment, pricing, wording analysis and accumulation management
3. Maintain and intensify customer relationships, develop new engineering business with global insureds and brokers all over the world
4. Negotiate with insureds and brokers for successful outcomes in line with our underwriting strategy
5. Contribute to the development of the principles of corporate underwriting
6. Perform risk inspections and evaluations on site, and prepare loss prevention recommendations
7. Provide assistance to claims handling for major claims
8. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and trends
9. Prepare and conduct presentations and seminars for colleagues and clients
YOUR PROFILE
10. University degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial) or related discipline
11. A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience, international experience and/or on major projects of advantage
12. Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices, affiliation with professional engineering associations of advantage
13. Underwriting experience or knowledge of insurance in the fields of CAR, EAR, CECR and IDI.
14. Confident and affable manner, negotiating skills and strong customer focus
15. Business-level English required, other language skills (German, French, Spanish) of advantage
16. Ability to work independently and manage as well as prioritise multiple tasks concurrently
17. Strong understanding of numbers and analytical skills
18. Collaborative and effective work approach in an international group dynamic
19. Willingness to travel
