The Team
The Country Medical Director, Germany will lead the Medical Affairs team in Germany, focusing on improving patient outcomes by consistently providing superior value to all of our stakeholders and driving the generation and communication of world class medical evidence. The Medical Director will lead impactful and innovative Medical Plans for the ongoing launch of Rezafungin in invasive fungal disease in Germany. The role will work closely with other members of the global Medical Affairs community in different countries whilst managing and deploying local MSL teams in Germany.
Role and Responsibilities
Medical Leadership (40%)
1. Provide leadership for the German Medical team, ensuring a focus on medical excellence in the development and execution of Anti-Infective Medical Plans that deliver enhanced patient outcomes.
2. Coach and support the local teams with a focus on development of talent and key capabilities.
3. Ensure strong business leadership and strategic partnership, as a key member of the German Leadership Team (LT).
4. Provide Medical governance, ensuring all our activities are in the best interests of patients and fully compliant with local regulations/codes.
5. Collaborate with the Global Medical Anti-Infectives team to ensure that insight generation, data generation and scientific communications in Germany are aligned and in line with overall Global Therapy Area strategy.
6. Collaborate closely with the Global Established Brands team to ensure appropriate reactive support for the legacy portfolio (Pain etc.).
7. Closely manage the German Medical budget.
8. Work closely with Global Medical Operations to ensure that Global medical systems and processes are fully embedded locally.
9. Build a Speciality Care culture based on patient centricity, deep scientific knowledge and strong external partnerships where Mundipharma is seen as a “scientific partner of choice.”
10. Contribute to the development of the Cluster Regional Medical Affairs strategy and support the ongoing evolution of the function as a valued strategic business partner.
External engagement (40%)
1. Build and maintain legitimate scientific collaborations with key external experts, institutions and medical societies and other relevant groups.
2. Lead on local patient engagement activities, such as patient advocacy groups.
3. Following alignment with the communications team, act as a medical spokesperson for the local business as appropriate.
4. Liaise with competitor companies to resolve any disputes regarding any activities.
Provide Medical expertise to cross-functional teams (20%)
1. Provide appropriate support, advice and guidance on Scientific and Medical matters in Anti-Infectives (such as strategies, tactics, promotional and non-promotional activities, scientific concepts etc.).
2. Work closely with the German Marketing team to ensure seamless execution of all relevant initiatives.
3. Liaise with Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety and R&D to ensure a seamless and aligned approach within Scientific Affairs.
4. Ensure oversight for the development, review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials/activities in Germany in full alignment with the German Code of Practice and other relevant Regulations.
5. Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure country activities fully meet company standards.
What you’ll bring
1. Ideally have a background as a qualified Medical Doctor, Pharmacist or similar (MD, MPharm or equivalent).
2. Previous experience as a Country Medical Director or similar roles.
3. Strong knowledge of the German market.
4. Deep expertise as a German Medical Signatory.
5. Fluency (written and spoken) in English.
6. Successful launch experience in Specialty Care and/or Rare Disease.
7. Track record in working with commercial colleagues.
8. Track record of building strong scientific partnerships with Key External Experts.
9. Clinical Development/Operations experience is desirable.
