Hauptaufgaben Works under general supervision of the branch chief, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies, and relies on the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work and remote ammunition work areas Problems relating to ammo operations must be handled by incumbent of the position; changes to standing operation procedures will be communicated to branch chief for inclusion. Work is reviewed and evaluated for efficient, safe, and economical accomplishment within priorities and specifications for handling and storage of hazardous and explosive material. Performs a variety of functions in the receipt, storage, issue, and shipment of Class V supply items (including unit basic loads (UBL), small and large guided missiles, and their components. Work Planning/Direction: Controls, organizes, directs, and assigns work. Sees that requirements and scope of work in accordance with applicable instructions are adhered to. Assigns work to subordinates. Explains and demonstrates new techniques or methods to assure improved quality, quantity and economy. Maintains a current knowledge of the ammunition handling, storage and loading requirements and answers questions of team members and customer units on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure that materials and tools are at work sites and that needed stock is obtained from supply. Requisitions and assures economical and correct use of supplies, tools and equipment. Checks proper and safe operation of equipment. Obtains necessary seals and keys as well as the prescribed safety, protective, and first-aid equipment and ensures the effective and economic use of equipment and material. Ensure and directs assigned team members to follow instructions and to meet deadlines. Checks work in progress and upon completion for compliance with instructions and technical adequacy of work output. Provides information for time and attendance and incidental records as needed. Assures adherence to rules on ammunition handling, housekeeping, fire and care of equipment. Observes worker performance and conducts on-the-job training for individual employees. Maintains discipline during work in ammunition operations area. Refers personnel problems to higher supervisor. Prepares daily activity reports indicating man-hours, work accomplishment under different accounts, personnel status, and relate production data. Performs on-the-job training and briefs subordinate personnel on new work methods and procedures On a daily basis, receives assignments in form of supply documents indicating the type of work to be performed, i.e., shipment planning work sheets, trailer receipt control slips, ammunition transfer records, material release orders, magazine planographs, storage space charts, serial number listing, transportation control and movement documents, release and receipt documents, and magazine data cards. Plans and coordinates sequence of functions to be performed considering time limits and availability of material handling equipment, motor vehicles, and personnel. Leads the operations of a group of up to 8 blue-collar employees engaged in the loading of containers, trucks, trailers, and boxcars. Ensures that ammunition safety and security provisions are adhered to during work operations. Keeps track of hours authorizing the payment of severity allowance based on ambient temperature or work being performed. Asks blue-collar personnel required for the completion of work assignments (i.e. explosives operators A4-3, forklift operators A4-3, and motor vehicle operators A5-6 or A5-7). Technical leadership is provided during all phases of operation in a remote work environment dealing with highly dangerous material. Coordinates the work group's activities with other team leaders to ensure that tasks compliant with mission requirements. a. Receives railroad and highway shipments, break bulk or containerized Notes discrepancies, such as incorrect nomenclatures, lot numbers, and quantities, and prepares appropriate discrepancy reports. Prepares required documents, in case they are missing. Sorts ammunition according to destination annotated on shipment documents, considering the compatibility of individual ammunition items. As annotated on supply documents, selects appropriate storage locations. Ensures that loading and storage areas are secured according to established safety and security provisions, and that assigned storage space is available as outlined on storage space charts or space planographs received. Informs respective stakeholdersr of pertinent deficiencies. Supervises the unloading of boxcars and checks documents against box and pallet markings. Notes deficiencies and prepares discrepancy reports to ensure a 100% accountability control Checks boxes, containers, and pallets for obvious physical damage and coordinates with Quality Assurance Specialists for the further disposition of damaged items. Performs research on erroneous transactions and takes independent action to correct errors detected Assists US military troops during upload exercises and checks ammunition and related material returned by using units for incompatible items. Initiates correction of minor discrepancies, or requests inspections of shipments by surveillance personnel. Directs the storage of ammunition received, ensuring that all provisions outlined in applicable standing operating procedures are adhered to. b. Selects number and type of ammunition annotated on Shipment Planning Work Sheets. Directs the picking of ammunition and ensures that light boxes are secured in accordance with applicable standing operating procedures. Initiates and supervises the palletizing, strapping, and marking of ammunition boxes. Verifies presence and correctness of UN number, UN proper shipping name and required labels. Performs as a customs border clearing agent determining s requirements in regards to agricultural cleaning and wood certification Ensures that available serviceable trailers, trucks, containers, and boxcars are loaded in accordance with established procedures and drawings, considering loading capacities, floating dunnage concept, compatibility of ammunition, and similar factors. Ensures proper blocking and bracing of all items loaded. Applies explosive and/or chemical placards to conveyances as required. Is responsible for correct marking and labelling of items according to hazardous cargo regulations. With the completion of a container load employee verifies compliance to regulatory guidelines on container packing certificate DD Form 2781 Ensures that required coordination and cooperation procedures with responsible US personnel are adhered to, when handling classified items. Receives work orders for ammunition scheduled for inspection, overhaul, and maintenance. Selects type and number of ammunition and initiates transfer of ammunition to maintenance or surveillance facilities. Ensures that explosive weights established for these facilities are not exceeded during ammunition transfers. Identifies and posts applicable fire symbols and chemical hazard signs to all conveyances transporting ammunition within the depot area. c. Conducts in-process inventories and prepares or updates magazine data cards, ensuring that data annotated comply with actual status. Prepares and updates planographs in accordance with procedures outlined in applicable manuals. Performs other duties as assigned.
