Principal Scientist - Medicinal Chemistry Animal Health
The Position
The mission of the global Department of Medicinal Chemistry is to deliver high-quality, first-in-class drug candidates within competitive timelines for humans and animals.
It is our ambition to strongly contribute to new therapeutic concepts and modalities for any target of interest and we strive for excellence in drug design and synthesis as well as world class expertise in lead identification & optimization. In your new role, you will steer research teams as a project leader in an international environment.
As a project leader in Medicinal Chemistry for Animal Health Therapeutics and/or Antiparasitics, you will co-lead several interdisciplinary, highly collaborative global research teams working to advance veterinary drug discovery projects towards development candidates.
Your daily tasks will include the analysis of data sets, selection of compounds for screening, in addition to design, prioritization and synthesis of biologically active molecules.
Furthermore, you will provide scientific support and technical training for laboratory scientists.
With your expertise, you will foster team science internally across global sites in Animal Health and Human Pharma, and potentially with external partners.
In addition, you will present research findings, project updates and strategy to internal stakeholders and external collaborators.
Doctoral degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related fields with several years of industrial experience in drug discovery
Expert knowledge of synthetic chemistry
Expertise in medicinal chemistry and other disciplines related to drug discovery
Excellent problem solving skills and detail oriented, while also able to maintain strategic oversight of projects
Proven leadership skills as a project leader or line manager
Team-oriented and collegial attitude with excellent communication skills
Excelling in highly dynamic environments and eager to take on new challenges
Proficient oral and written communication skills in English as well as willingness to adopt a basic command of the German language
