Drive revenue growth – balance commercial focus with mission-driven social ethos
The commercial subsidiary of a global NGO is seeking a new leader. The new CEO’s mission is to devise and execute the growth strategy and leverage capabilities of this B2B services, certification and consulting organisation in new ways. Reporting to the Supervisory Board, develop innovative propositions and develop greater commercial business culture across a global footprint. Transformational role to enable scaling-up and diversification while optimising core performance and enhancing social purpose and principles.
Ideal role for a commercial leader, masterful diplomat and top-level relationship builder with a passion for sustainability, driven by the opportunity to make a difference at the epicentre of ethical standards in global trade. Role based in headquarters in North Rhine Westfalia (Germany).
Key Tasks:
* Reporting to the Board, full P+L accountability for global assurance, certification and consulting revenues and EBIT
* Drive revenue growth, evolve and embed sustainable new value propositions, growing brand impact and projection
* Champion the organisation across complex stakeholder landscape and beyond, while under wide public scrutiny
* Cross-functional leadership with global remit across team of 200+, responsible for refining service definition and delivery
* Shape strategy and implement a commercial business culture across a context driven by social / ethical mission
* Bring clarity and focus to service development and the company’s role in the world and across complex value chains
* Deploy thought leadership; leverage trends / techniques in standards / assurance across increasingly challenging context
* Lead, develop and motivate the team across disciplines / geographies, drive ‘can-do’, risk-aware culture and disciplines
* High-visibility ambassador and reputation-builder; proactive, robust driver of growth and evolution with contextual sensitivity.
The ideal candidate for the vacant position:
* 15+ years’ demonstrable success in €50m+ P+L leadership; proven revenue growth success entering new segments
* CEO / Geschäftsführer with growth record across global consumer / retail / co-operatives categories, with sustainability bias
* Alternatively leadership in standards, assurance, certification and/or relevant consulting – with corresponding prominence
* Outstanding communicator; demonstrable system thinking across complex global value chains and stakeholder landscapes
* Incisive and diplomatic, with track record of balancing commercial and ethical / sustainability mission-driven agendas
* Functional leadership covering front-end commercial disciplines, highlighting sales acumen, relationship-building excellence
* Polished international presence with undoubted authority and ethical standards, accustomed to compliance scrutiny
* Demonstrable operational detail / process orientation to underpin cohesion, sustainability and business ‘backbone’
* Clear track record of building and rolling out new reputation-enhancing and revenue-generating propositions internationally
* Visible passion for sustainability subject-matter; inspiring, outcome-oriented simplifier with urgency and charisma.
