WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change. ShareTheMeal currently has more than 1.3 million supporters worldwide, who have shared more than 160 million meals(US$ 100 million).WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin and remotely, is focused on increasing the funds raised to help get to zero hunger by further developing the app to include new and innovative features, increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives. As the user base has grown, there is a significant opportunity to increase funds raised from existing users and deliver an exceptional experience to build a long term relationship with each supporter. PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT The Head of Operational and Strategic Planning for ShareTheMeal will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the content and operations strategy at ShareTheMeal. Moreover, they will lead cross-functional initiatives, steer organizational planning efforts, and drive operational efficiencies through data-driven insights and recommendations. ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Under the general guidance and supervision of the Head of ShareTheMeal, the Head of Operational and Strategic planning will: 1. Provide Strategic advisory for ShareTheMeal including planning and forecasting. • Develop quarterly and yearly strategic planning for ShareTheMeal, including forecasting of future growth and associated operations in close collaboration with the Head of ShareTheMeal, ShareTheMeal leads, and the division leadership. • Offer continuous oversight and advice to drive forward strategic priorities ensuring timely implementation. • Coordinate planning and prioritization of initiatives across teams to ensure a cohesive strategy. 2. Drive the operations at ShareTheMeal incl. cross-functional project management, performance analysis, and change management. • Oversee/manage the team responsible for developing and implementing SharetheMeal’s content and operational strategy including – but not limited - to determine when to launch campaigns and provide communications insight. • Lead cross-functional projects of high priority and strategic importance (e.g., high-value donor strategy, campaign strategy, data privacy, payments strategy) • Oversee all aspects of ShareTheMeal’ s operations, identifying opportunities for growth and streamlining processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. • Advise on and create collaborative working practices and processes with the Global Head of Supporter Engagement and Heads of Individual Giving and ShareTheMeal • Counsel and support on division-wide implementation of special projects and key initiatives including promoting synergies within IF and PSP • Develop and maintain SharetheMeal’s budget, identifying opportunities to optimize spending and ensuring all expenditures align with organizational goals and objectives. • Advance the data maturity of the team in cooperation with the BI Hub and the ShareTheMeal teams. 3. Support in stakeholder engagement, including facilitation and communication. • Communicate the success and impact of ShareTheMeal to priority audiences. • Chair and drive strategic meetings (e.g., performance reviews, OKRs) DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT - Efficient and effective implementation and reporting for operational priorities, incl. Business performance analysis and change management. - Quarterly and yearly strategic planning for ShareTheMeal, including forecasting, is completed. - Strategic priorities, incl. budget and financial activities are planned, tracked, and reported in line with WFP standards. - Relations with other divisions are deepened for a mutual collaboration. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Education ■ University degree in Business, Economics, or another relevant field Work history ■ At least 6 years progressive experience working in project management / strategy /consulting / business development / change management or related roles. ■ Experience leading cross-functional and strategic projects is required. ■ Experience working in the private sector and the UN system is desired. Technical expertise ■ Essential computer skills in Microsoft Office applications: proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel ■ Proven ability to conceptualize, plan, manage, develop, and monitor processes. ■ Excellent understanding of global issues and an ability to translate an organization’s mission Soft skills ■ Very organized, with meticulous attention to detail, incl. excels modelling. ■ Structured problem-solving approach ■ Superior ability to effectively lead cross-functional projects with internal and external stakeholders. ■ Strong ownership and leadership to help drive various topics at an organizational level. ■ Excellent, structured, and adaptable communication skills for diverse stakeholders starting with the most junior and up to the most senior levels. ■ Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills in a complex multi-national and multi-cultural environment ■ Highly adaptable to change and comfortable dealing with ambiguity, stress, and competing demands Language(s) ■ Excellent command of spoken and written English ■ Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
