The role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a global platform engineering & architecture function, responsible for the shared platforms that support SoftwareOne’s Services business, and for driving best practices and standardisation across the Services CoEs. The Shared Platforms & Integration (SPI) team consists of over 50 FTEs, across multiple global software engineering teams, plus an Architecture and UX function, responsible for multiple platforms that support our Services business and customer engagements.
The Shared Platforms & Integration Leader is a core member of the Services senior leadership team, reporting to the President of Services. As a leader of leaders they are responsible for ensuring the platforms that support the services business meet the requirements of stakeholders in all regions, and are providing innovation and value to the business as a whole. The candidate must be collaborative and agile, with a deep experience of applying platform best practices to both internal and large-scale customer-facing systems.
In addition to platform engineering responsibilties, this role is responsible for ensuring architecture best practices are implemented across all of the engineering teams within SPI, while also creating architectural frameworks and best practices to drive commonality and re-usable components across the Services CoEs and the wider Services organization. They are also responsible for developing integration points and championing approaches that will support the Services team’s business outcomes when engaging with other functions across the SoftwareOne business.
The ideal candidate will have a clear blend of global stakeholder management skills, leadership gravitas and the ability to lead and mentor globally distributed teams, while also being able to provide technical input and strategic direction for platforms and frameworks that will support and enhance the development of the Services business.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical and people leadership, oversight, and governance during the build, ongoing development, and release of shared platforms that support services products across SoftwareOne’s portfolio.
2. Ensure the platforms that are built and delivered match the requirements and expectations of the Regional Services teams and leadership, who are effectivley the ‘customers’ for this function.
3. Mentor and develop the existing platform leadership team to ensure industry best practices and approaches are being employed across all engagements the team has with stakeholders throughout the organisation.
4. Ensure best practices are in place that facilitate collaboration across development teams, avoiding situations where individual isolated components do not complement each other when combined into a final services product
5. Support post-launch release efforts of any new platforms to ensure successful launch and landing of those platforms across the services business
6. Work and communicate across functions to ensure there is a joined-up approach to platforms, architecture, and integration, across all SoftwareOne teams and stakeholders.
