The Company's common shares are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the NYSE under the symbol ‘ATS’.JOB SUMMARY:Manage the tax planning, compliance, and review of German subsidiaries, drive the related statutory financial statement reporting, and assist with certain treasury functions. Support the tax needs of multiple European division business and finance leads. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Taxation:Leadership: Lead resource on all German tax matters, including income, trade, value added, and other taxes, and manage certain tax department functions to ensure efficient and effective operations. Provide tax-related guidance and support to non-tax team members.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, HR, and divisional operations to provide tax guidance for various business initiatives.Tax Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes and make necessary adjustments.Tax Strategy: Participate in the development and implementation of the overall tax strategy, focusing on minimizing tax liability while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.Tax Planning: Identify tax-optimization opportunities while maintaining a strong ethical and legal approach to tax planning.Tax Provision Support: Lead quarterly and annual tax provision (current and deferred) preparation efforts and review provisions entities in the fiscal group in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP, including SOX requirements. Stay current with financial reporting standards. Work cross-functionally with financial statement auditors. Support tax technology and SOX initiatives. Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns, including income tax, value added taxes, and other regulatory filings. Stay updated on global tax laws and regulations to ensure complete and accurate compliance. Assist with global transfer pricing documentation compliance.Financial Forecasting: Assist with estimating accurate tax rate forecasts and tax budgets to proactively support accurate financial planning.Tax Exams and Risk Management: Evaluate potential tax risks, manage tax risk within the corporate framework, oversee global tax exams. Advise senior tax management on potential exposures that arise and mitigation strategies. Work closely with the global finance teams and local counsel, when necessary, to respond to any inquiries or requests from tax authorities.M&A Support: Participate in M&A activities, including planning, due diligence, legal document review, integration planning and execution. Provide transaction support from a taxation perspective to the deal teams.Finance and Accounting Support:Annual Statutory Financial Statements: Responsible to plan, organize, and ensure completion of the annual consolidated financial statements of the entities within the fiscal group under German GAAP (“HGB”), including coordination of required financial statement audits with local external auditors, on a timely basis. Review the HGB to IFRS reconciliations of the German fiscal group legal entities.Prepare corporate fiscal budgets for German statutory accounting and tax purposes annually and determine actual performance versus budgets and objectives monthly.Projects: Assist with special projects and analyses as needed.Treasury Support:Cash Management: Assist with cash flow management, cash forecasts and ensure treasury policies are followed. Maintain intercompany loan agreements.Foreign Currency Risk Management: Assist with review foreign exchange exposures and recommended hedging requirements.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:A university degree in accounting and taxes.A professional accounting designation (Wirtschaftsprüfer) preferable.Skills and Experience:At least 12 years of relevant tax experience within public accounting and corporate tax functions.Strong knowledge of German domestic and international tax regulations as they would apply to an inbound and outbound multination company.Proven ability to align tax planning strategies with overall strategic business objectives.Knowledge of IFRS) and German Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Deep domain experience in managing financial and tax reporting processes in an international context.Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented environment.Effective communication skills with people at all levels within and outside of the organization, both orally and in writing.Ability to set team expectations, meet deliverable deadlines, and hold people accountable.
