Position Description
As the innovative market and technology leader, QIAGEN creates Sample to Insight technologies that enable access to valuable molecular insights from any biological sample. Our mission is to make improvements in life possible by enabling our customers to achieve outstanding success and breakthroughs in life sciences, applied testing, pharma, and molecular diagnostics.
QIAGEN’s Digital Business Solutions was founded to lead its digital transformation along the value chain, ensuring better customer service and customer satisfaction, investing in new businesses & technologies, and building & enhancing digital capabilities. The Data Science & AI Team is the cornerstone of this transformation and is looking for a new team member who is expected to:
Lead individual, international data science projects within a global matrix organization to achieve goals within the required timeline.
Utilize advanced analytical methods and develop algorithms/models to extract insights from diverse data sources that drive business across the whole value chain.
Interact with key-stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) to understand their needs and translate those needs into precise analytical solutions to inform strategy and help draw conclusions. Be the analytical partner for business (including R&D) that enables and promotes making data-driven choices.
Clearly and concisely communicate analytical solutions and results to experts and non-experts alike.
Support further development, maintenance and refinement of the data infrastructure, dashboards and algorithms of the Data Science & AI department.
Minimum 3 years hands-on industry experience with data science or advanced analytics projects.
Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, bioinformatics); PhD preferred.
Expert knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
Solid understanding of probability theory, statistics, and time-series analysis: Bayesian statistics, ARIMA, MCMC, ANOVA, etc.
Well-versed in R, Python and in using common machine learning libraries (e.g., sklearn, keras/tensorflow, PYMC3, statsmodels, etc.). Programming in Spark would be beneficial. Additionally, k nowledge of professional software development practices, tools for source control and project management like Git, JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc. would be beneficial.
Any of the following requirements would be advantageous, but not essential:
Experience implementing Large Language Models or GenAI pipelines.
big data ecosystems, common ETL processes, and experience with the Azure tool stack.
Hands-on experience in any of the following areas: anomaly detection, IoT analytics, real-time/streaming analytics, variant identification in NGS runs, RNAseq, ATACseq, and Metagenomics.
