Functional area: Procurement
As Senior Regional Category Manager Electrical, within OPEA’s Category Management Team, you will be responsible for developing the procurement and contracting strategies for all Electrical components (including Substations, Transfer stations, Grid Transformers, CT/VTs, CVTs, Circuit Breakers, Switch Gears & Communication cabinets) required for OPEA’s Onshore Wind and PV pipeline. You will lead the implementation of respective strategies in line with a deep understanding of project availability and cost requirements as well as market dynamics and regulatory developments.
Your future:
* Functional management of sourcing of Electrical Components for all Wind and PV projects built in Europe and Australia.
* Ensure interdisciplinary cooperation to develop the Electrical categories further via hosting Integrated Category teams (ICTs) with colleagues from other departments such as Engineering and Quality.
* Negotiate contracts/framework contracts and improve results by optimizing commercial terms via insights in cost breakdowns, supplier negotiation tactics and in-depth understanding of key variables of Net-present-value (NPV) calculations.
* For long-term price contracts apply best industry practice indexation mechanisms to ensure predictable price level for the business
* Develop and extent strategic partnerships with global and local suppliers on various tiers of the supply chain independently of direct or indirect contractual relationship.
* Use gained market knowledge to ensure strategies are updated and communicated in advance of changes in supply chain situation (lead-times, availability, out-of-sector interferences), regulatory environment and market dynamics in all geographical areas OPEA is active in.
* Manage the full sourcing process (including market analysis, RFI, RFPs, Negotiations, Contracting, Preparation of internal finance investment decisions and Supplier Awarding) in close collaboration with key stakeholders and in line with RWE policies and processes.
Your profile:
* Excellent completed university degree in electrical/industrial engineering, business administration/ management, economics or a comparable degree/ alternative work experience.
* Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Procurement and/or Contract Management within high complex, large scale organizations ideally for Electrical Categories and experience in negotiating high CAPEX contracts
* Strong understanding of Electrical components market, their suppliers, and supply chain
* Experienced in developing and implementing category and advanced negotiation strategies.
* Highly independent, systematic, quality- and goal-oriented approach to work
* Affinity for numbers and ability to understand level of fair pricing based on cost estimates
* Ability to work under high pressure & in a fast-paced environment while keeping a positive mind-set
* Team player with hands-on mentality
* Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills (spoken and written) in English; German or other languages advantageous
* Willingness to travel as necessary to support the role
