Job Title: HSE Engineer Location: Luckenwalde, Germany Industry: Biosimilars / Biopharmaceuticals Work Schedule: Full-time (5 days onsite) Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Engineer to join a team at a a manufacturing site in Luckenwalde. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our operations, playing a key role in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. The role requires full-time onsite presence and will involve close collaboration with site management, production teams, and external authorities. Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance: Ensure that all operations, facilities, and activities comply with local, national, and international HSE regulations, as well as company policies. Implement and monitor HSE standards, procedures, and best practices in the biosimilar manufacturing process. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Develop and update risk management plans, emergency response procedures, and safety protocols tailored to biosimilar production. Training and Awareness: Organize and conduct HSE training sessions for employees to ensure that all team members are informed about safety protocols, emergency response actions, and the correct use of safety equipment. Foster a culture of safety awareness across the site. Safety Audits and Inspections: Perform regular safety audits and inspections of the facility, machinery, and equipment. Identify areas of concern and follow through with corrective actions to ensure the safety of all personnel and compliance with environmental regulations. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for prevention. Maintain detailed records of all safety incidents and ensure they are reported in line with regulatory requirements. Environmental Management: Oversee environmental management processes, including waste management, water usage, air quality control, and energy efficiency. Ensure that the site adheres to environmental regulations and best practices for sustainability. Continuous Improvement: Promote and drive continuous improvement initiatives for HSE practices and processes. Collaborate with other departments to integrate HSE considerations into production, quality control, and other operational activities. Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for local authorities and regulatory bodies regarding health, safety, and environmental matters. Ensure that the site is prepared for regulatory inspections and audits, providing all necessary documentation and data. Emergency Response: Act as a key member of the site's emergency response team. Be prepared to manage emergency situations, conduct drills, and provide expertise during incidents to ensure rapid and safe resolution. Qualifications: Education: A degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or biosimilars industry. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices. Familiarity with biosimilar manufacturing processes and industry-specific environmental and safety standards is highly desirable. Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management software. Certifications: Relevant certifications in Health, Safety, and Environment (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are preferred. Languages: Proficiency in English and German, both written and spoken.
