Objective:
In this key role the Lead Systems Engineer will work closely with the Global Sales Representative. The Systems Engineer's main mission will be to support the sales manager in all technical matters regarding pre-sales, sales activities, and selected post-sales activities.
In addition the Lead System Engineer will build and maintain trusted technical and business advisor relationships with relevant customer stakeholders for the assigned account and demonstrate the business value of Fortinet Services, Solutions, and Architectures to help address their challenges, strategic priorities, and operational objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Understanding of the Fortinet portfolio with the ability to demonstrate and articulate technical and business value.
2. Strong foundational knowledge in security and networking technology and specifically in our “core technology”, FortiOS-based products.
3. Subject Matter Expert and first contact in an assigned technical domain within or across assigned sales district. Manage domain use cases, competitive intelligence, and differentiation. Excellent product integration & customization skills including relevant 3rd party integrations.
4. Create and nurture consultative relationships with the customer and its stakeholders on a technical and business level, collaborating with Product-, Services- and Solution Architect Teams to develop customer focused architectures driving industry-wide innovation.
5. Lead the architectural design associated with Fortinet's technology strategy in alignment with key business drivers, solving customer business problems and market issues by creating a journey how individual projects and initiatives contribute towards that to-be future state architecture.
6. Understand your customer's business strategy, success criteria, challenges, and strategic alliances and how Fortinet can demonstrate business relevance to executive stakeholders.
7. Manage and lead all aspects of the technical sales engagement from general queries to demos, RfX, and PoC’s around features, specifications, and functionality to integration. Provide architecture and implementation design consultation and best practice guidance for strategic opportunities.
8. Collaborate with peers, Consulting System Engineers (CSE’s), Solution Architects, Business Consultants, Professional Services and/or Partners on complex opportunities. Capture and manage customer requirements through the Consulting System Engineering Team to Product Management.
9. Identify top opportunities and support building a business case.
Required Skills:
10. Extensive experience and network within Siemens and knowledge about their processes.
11. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cyber security, networking, solution architecture field experience with proven success.
12. Senior customer focused, technical engineering sales professional with knowledge of customer specific business initiators and their networking and security platforms, including adjacent technology and solution areas.
13. Strong collaborator, self-motivated, and a great communicator with a “whatever-it-takes” mentality and an entrepreneurial mindset.
14. Proven ability to work independently and lead a team in a collaborative environment.
15. Good understanding of assigned customer's/vertical industry and its trends.
16. Excellent German and English language skills.
17. Ability to interface with senior levels of internal and external organizations is required.
18. Excellent verbal & written communication, presentation, prioritization, and interpersonal skills to executives and individual contributors.
19. Good knowledge level in networking (LAN, WIFI, WAN, SDN, routing, switching), and network security (Next-Gen Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, encryption protocols).
20. Willingness to travel 20-50% of time.
Education:
21. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
22. Significant industry certifications (SANS, CISSP, CCIE, etc.) preferred.
