What to Expect
As a Design Engineer in Tesla's Civil team, you will be responsible for design development of civil infrastructure projects following the HOAI phases of design/equivalent from concept to execution for all kinds of infrastructure projects, including underground utility infrastructure such as rainwater, drinking- and sewage water, pressure lines (Gas, Hydrant lines) and traffic infrastructure such as roads, parking areas, pedestrian areas, etc.
You will be joining a team of driven engineers with a huge scope, reach, and potential impact. Civil infrastructure is one of the key elements in the development of the Giga factory Berlin. You will be required to apply your deep knowledge in designing in a multi-disciplinary environment, always keeping budget and timelines in mind. Your day-to-day tasks will involve design, coordination, reviewing, and contributing to various projects, including the infrastructure development of buildings on site, such as vehicle and pedestrian access and utility connections.
What You’ll Do
* Design development for underground and traffic infrastructures
* Hydraulic modelling of the site utility networks
* Work in a team of Civil engineers, traffic simulation and drafters with a focus on project priorities
* Produce graphic presentations and construction drawings
* Create technical and permit reports (water permit + BImSchG)
* Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, permitting design, schematic design, design development at various stages, construction documents, and production, RFI and field validation work
* Collaborate with design team, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
* Assist with the review of RFI’s and Submittals during the construction administration portion of the project
* Drive and obtain permits with all local authorities and departments
* Perform design option analysis for cost efficiency and constructability
What You’ll Bring
* Master’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years of related project experience
* Ability to work with non-clearly defined targets and minimal information
* Strong problem-solving skills and a highly efficient way of working
* Experience working with permitting, procurement, and construction coordination
* Proficiency in 2D/3D software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, and desirable Revit
* Knowledge of relevant German civil design codes (DIN, FGSV, DWA, ASR, AwSV, WHG)
* German and/or English proficiency required; additional languages are a plus
* Recent understanding of BlmSchG projects and projects in water protection zones are a plus
* Experience with complicated infrastructures with analysis of trade-offs for a vehicle factory on tight timelines and building boundaries
