The Mission Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites equipped with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and various other applications. The company builds and integrates their own infrared payloads and satellite platforms, with currently 10 active satellites in orbit. Following this path, we are seeking talented engineers to ramp up the batch production of satellites for the second, third, and subsequent orbital planes. Your responsibilities include quality assurance for our in-house production of infrared payloads and satellite platforms. You will join a highly motivated and enthusiastic team of experts in mechanical, optical, electronic, aerospace, and software engineering. What you’ll be doing Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) plans to ensure compliance with ECSS, NASA, ISO 9001, and other relevant space industry standards. Monitor and enforce QA procedures during the design, procurement, manufacturing, integration, and testing stages. Lead critical-items control, nonconformance management, and alert systems throughout the production lifecycle. Lead and support quality audits, inspections, and assessments and collaborate with customer representatives during inspections ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards. Manage calibration and metrology systems, ensuring all measurement equipment meets accuracy and traceability requirements. Supervise cleanliness and contamination control, e.g. ESD-Safe and cleanroom environments. Conduct failure investigations, root cause analyses (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformities. Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate quality requirements into product development and production processes. Participate in risk management activities, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR). Coordinate the preparation of End Item Data Packages (EIDPs) and Certificates of Conformity (CoC) for delivery reviews. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Relevant Skills Technical degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or comparable qualification. Minimum 3–5 years experience in quality assurance, ideally in aerospace, satellite, or space systems manufacturing. Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), regulatory requirements, and industry standards(ECSS, NASA, ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.). Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis. Proficiency in quality auditing, supplier quality management, and materials reliability testing for space environments. Familiarity with space qualification and acceptance testing, including outgassing, radiation hardness, and mechanical stress tests. Highly organized and structured way of working in laboratories and clean rooms. Proactive attitude to problem-solving while safeguarding high-quality standards. Fluent in English and excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across different engineering domains. Strong documentation and reporting skills, ensuring traceability and compliance with space industry requirements; experience with configuration management tools is a plus. Strong understanding of quality control systems, nonconformance handling, and verification procedures. Experience with statistical analysis tools and quality control software (e.g., Minitab, MATLAB, or Python for data analysis). Certifications such as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/AS9100), or CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) are preferred.
