About the Role
Location Germany Bayern Erlangen Company Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG Organization Grid Technologies Business Unit Grid Solutions Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Experienced Professional A Snapshot of Your Day HVDC is a backbone technology for a sustainable future, it utilizes converters to efficiently transmit power from large offshore wind parks to the onshore electrical grid. We are looking for people who are excited to learn about HVDC technology, become part of our team and make a real difference to the global energy transition. As a controls engineer in an HVDC project, you will be involved in multiple topics over the duration of the project, starting with the concept description for the control system and the parametrization of all required interfaces from the control system to other systems. You will continue with the implementation and verification of the control logic in MATLAB/SIMULINK according to customer requirements. Finally, you will be involved in loading the compiled control software onto the target hardware and performing tests on the hardware in the loop setup to verify the final performance. The job gives you the opportunity to be involved with diverse aspects of developing an HVDC system. You will work as part of a project team, together with other control engineers and engineers from other systems, such as Human-Machine Interface, Switchyard control, real-time simulation etc. You will have the opportunity to be involved in discussions with customers and play an active part in forming the new electrical grid that will lead us to a sustainable future. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Design and implement open- and closed-loop control systems for HVDC Converter Systems
2. Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments
3. Contribute to the clarification of technical requirements within project teams as well as with customers
4. Work with a close-knit team on a successful project development
What You Bring
