Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Key Responsibilities
For our location in Berlin, Germany, we are looking for an
Optics / Opto-Mechanic Engineer
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Serve as a technical lead in co-packaged optics within cross-functional project teams.
* Build fundamental, scientific understanding to resolve technical problems and drive innovation.
* Convert ideas into prototypes and be responsible for developing innovative manufacturing process technologies and high precision assemblies meeting mechanical, optical and reliability requirements.
* Utilize expertise in optics, precision mechanism design, and motion control to drive engineering solutions.
* Design systems for automation integration & high-volume production environments
* Study new trends in fiber optic technologies
* Documenting new ideas for potential patent submissions
* Work in international, multidisciplinary project groups
Required Skills
* Technical bachelor’s or master’s Degree (preferred in mechanical engineering, physics, electronics, material engineering or similar)
* Technical skill in one or more of the following areas:
o Optics or process design
o High-precision optical alignment
o Prototyping abilities
o 3D CAD proficiency
o Optimize of design automation process
o Troubleshooting test cases
o Creativity and passion for innovation
* Ability to communicate effectively within multi-national groups.
* 5 years of experience in required technical skills.
Desired & Soft Skills
* Knowledge & experience with Optical Fiber / Fiber array units / Co-Packaged Optics.
* Experience in quality management of processes (Six sigma)
* Fluent English (spoken and written).
* Able to work across regional boundaries and cultures.
* Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills.
