Job Title: Senior Battery Engineer (m/f/d) Location: Greater Dresden area Compensation range: 80,000-120,000 Euros/year (depending on experience) Job Summary: Our client is at the most exciting stage of its growth yet, the launch and production scale-up of their German-made LFP lithium-ion batteries. They are the only company in the market that manufactures both the cells and the battery packs in Germany, and are looking for an experienced engineer to fill a senior position on their team They are looking for someone with experience in electrical or mechanical engineering (or in a related field), and who is excited by the prospect of solving complex problems and watching your work have a direct impact on the company's products and production operations. Experience with batteries is not essential but is preferred. They are still a relatively small team, so the successful candidate would need to be ready to be given a meaningful amount of responsibility and to take a hands-on approach to problem solving. Key Responsibilities: Process Optimization: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement automation solutions. Automation System Development: Assist in designing, programming, and implementing automation systems for battery production lines. Collaborate with senior engineers to develop control strategies using PLCs, HMIs, and robotics. Mechanical Design and Analysis: Support the design and improvement of mechanical components and assemblies used in battery manufacturing equipment. Utilize CAD software to create detailed models and engineering drawings. Equipment Installation and Maintenance: Assist in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of mechanical and automation equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical and control system issues, providing timely resolutions. Quality Management Prepare and maintain quality management documentation. Establish and conduct quality testing procedures for materials and end product. Monitor MES system output data to identify production issues, as well as areas for improvement. Prepare reports about overall product quality identifying areas that need improvement. Develop and implement solutions to improve product/production quality. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, chemical, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of systems. Improve process quality and process control through the use of mechanical design and automation system development. Support the production team by providing technical expertise and training as needed. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all designs and processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, schematics, and reports. Qualifications: Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. Experience: Experience in mechanical engineering, automation and/or electrical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with battery production or energy storage systems is a plus. Experience with high volume manufacturing is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for mechanical design. Basic programming skills for PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and familiarity with HMI interfaces. Understanding of robotics and automated control systems. Knowledge of sensors, actuators, and instrumentation used in automation. Understanding of statistics and statistical process control Language Skills: Strong proficiency in both German and English. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies. Other: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is desirable. Willingness to occasionally work off-shifts or weekends as required by project timelines.
