Hauptaufgaben
Serves an Electrical Engineer with responsibility for developing the designs, plans and specifications, and statements of work for high/medium voltage systems, low voltage systems, communication systems, lighting, and other systems of major size and complexity for use in military facilities and humanitarian aid projects in European, African, and NATO allied nations, including multi-story buildings, transformer stations, power plants, data facilities, administrative/office facilities, fire stations, schools, hospitals and similar structures. Applies US and Host Nation criteria, codes, and standards in the construction of the most complex military facilities, infrastructure works, and humanitarian aid projects. Travels to conduct site visits throughout Europe and Africa. Analyses existing facilities and prepares reports documenting findings, identifying deficiencies, and recommending solutions. Prepares design analyses for Electrical portion of designs performed in-house including voltage drop, short-circuit, fault analysis, selective coordination, and lighting calculations. Reviews contractor's design submittals. Participates in design charrettes and related meetings. Typically, is assigned to projects of considerable difficulty, i.e., containing combinations of unusual features, requiring significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects. Design, review, and design development are further complicated by the requirements to adhere to US and Host Nation criteria, codes, and standards; the use of US and foreign materials and equipment; differences in standards and construction techniques. In addition, serves as technical advisor to USACE-NAU engineers on complex design projects. Projects include both new construction, renovation, and repair of facilities in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus, Israel, and the African continent.
Consults with construction division personnel to resolve differences and complex unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during construction and based on the condition, prepares sketches or change drawings and specifications solving the problem and incorporates these change documents into the contract performance documents.
For projects designed in-house, performs or directs the survey and investigations at the project site to determine condition of facilities and to secure necessary data prior to initiating design, evaluates the data obtained and incorporates the salient factors into design considerations and solutions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

E&T Levels I thru IV: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.
E&T Level V: Applicants for positions in this series are required to be graduates from a Fachhochschule, a Berufsakademie, or a Technische Hochschule as an Engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from pertinent German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization of the position.
• Driver's license class B required.
• Office Automation skills required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency Level C1 and German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
