The Powerplant – Back Shop Mechanic performs and inspects aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on assigned aircraft systems.
1. Inspect engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks.
2. Perform blade blending and blade replacement in cold section of powerplants.
3. Replace or repair worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves.
4. Ability to Perform hot section inspections and determine replacement of hot section components (GG rotors, stators, fuel injectors, igniters, power turbine.)
5. Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
6. Perform engine removal, replacement, reinstallation, and quick-change assembly (QCA) maintenance tasks.
7. Responsible for completion and maintenance of applicable forms and records.
8. Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
9. Observe all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
10. Perform general aircraft maintenance duties (removal and installation of aircraft assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls).
11. Perform additional duties as requested.
Minimum Requirements :
12. High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
13. Shall have Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
14. FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required. If neither, must be willing to obtain FCC License prior to start.
15. Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P), with at least two-year aviation maintenance experience, and two years on the assigned MDS.
16. All experience must be within the five most recent years.
17. If No A&P, must possess an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3) And Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned AH-64 Mission Design Series (MDS).
18. Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
19. Valid US Passport Required for deployment to Germany.
Germany Specific:
20. TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
21. Travel: As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
22. Experience using a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, scales, and TMDE (Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment).
23. Ability to cross train in various maintenance disciplines (, powerplant, blade shop, or general maintenance on UH-60, AH-64, and CH-47 aircraft).
24. Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data from maintenance manuals, modification (MWO) installation instructions, schematics, and engineering drawings.
25. Knowledge of quality, production, and supply processes required to perform job assignment.
26. Analytical skills required to perform complex troubleshooting.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
27. Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
28. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
29. Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
30. Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
