We are seeking a highly skilled Principal System Research Engineer specializing in Ethernet/SerDes systems, with expertise in both system architecture design and DSP algorithm development. This role requires you to define the concept architecture of high-speed Ethernet and SerDes systems, specify functional blocks, and design DSP algorithms to optimize system performance. Join us as a Principal System Research Engineer (m/f/d) Your mission Lead the creation of concept architectures for Ethernet and SerDes systems, focusing on performance optimization, scalability, and power efficiency. Define the overall system architecture that guides detailed design and block specifications Design and implement advanced DSP algorithms for critical system components such as equalization, error correction, channel estimation, and adaptive filtering Optimize these algorithms for high-speed communication systems to ensure minimal bit error rate (BER) and maximum throughput Specify the functional blocks required for the system, including signal processing, equalization, error correction, and clock/data recovery. Ensure these blocks meet performance, power, and area (PPA) requirements Drive the optimization of system-level performance, focusing on parameters such as latency, jitter, bit error rate (BER), power consumption, and throughput. Apply DSP techniques to enhance these parameters and optimize system efficiency Define how the DSP algorithms and specified blocks interact within the system, ensuring seamless integration across different layers of the Ethernet/SerDes ecosystem. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate architecture into a working design Conduct research into next-generation Ethernet/SerDes technologies and DSP techniques, such as adaptive equalization, machine learning-based DSP, and advanced error correction algorithms. Apply this research to improve system architectures and algorithms Use tools like MATLAB, Python, or SystemC to model system architectures and DSP algorithms, and perform detailed simulations to validate system-level designs and algorithm performance Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and contribute to the development of specifications, white papers, and research papers related to Ethernet and SerDes technologies Provide guidance during prototyping and testing phases, including lab-based validation of DSP algorithms and system architectures to ensure the design meets performance targets Your areas of expertise Ph.D. or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications, or a related field Several years of experience in system-level design and DSP algorithm development for Ethernet/SerDes systems Expertise in Ethernet and SerDes system architecture, including concept architecture design and block specification Strong experience in DSP algorithm development, particularly for signal processing, equalization, error correction, and adaptive filtering in high-speed communication systems Proven ability to specify and design functional blocks that meet performance, power, and scalability requirements Deep understanding of system-level optimization, including latency, bit error rates (BER), signal integrity, and throughput Proficiency in system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Python, or SystemC Strong understanding of Ethernet standards and SerDes protocols Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize system-level performance Expertise in applying DSP algorithms to enhance communication system performance Fluent in English. Excellent intercultural communication skills as well as professional leadership. Will have to work in a multicultural and multiparter working experience Ability to work effectively in a team and lead design efforts as well Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Some travelling will be needed as a part of the job Knowledge of emerging Ethernet technologies and high-performance networking.
