The opportunity As a Senior AI Engineer at GEMESYS, you will be an integral part of the core developer team, which works on low-level optimization and scalable software for our brain-like chip. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, collaborating with excellent specialists to develop the foundational technology for new AI solutions in various industries such as healthcare, space, energy, and robotics. Your role As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be crucial in designing and implementing AI models with finite bit precision to optimize resource use on the GEMESYS chip. Unlike traditional frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, this position requires building models from scratch with a minimalistic approach, exploring non-standard topologies, encoding techniques and information quantization methods. Research and develop new AI models and algorithms for low-power and edge devices considering the physical limitations of the in-house AI chip. Design models from the ground up, focusing on new topologies that are efficient for on-chip computation. Investigate and apply coding techniques and information quantization methods tailored to GEMESYS technology. Write unit tests and/or employ test-driven development. Create documentation and visualization of the developed software architecture. Create technical reports and present findings to the team and external stakeholders. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (software and hardware engineers) to implement hardware -optimized AI solutions. Drive iterative development in an agile setting, contributing to the fast-paced and collaborative research environment. Stay current with industry trends, technologies and best practices related to AI engineering and solutions. What you bring Essential: Bachelor’s or master’s / PhD degree in C omputer S cience, A pplied M athematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Relevant industry experience in AI/ML with a focus on developing and implementing custom, resource-efficient models (preferably in a leading position). Strong knowledge of numerical methods, finite bit precision, and quantization techniques for efficient AI. Practical experience with CUDA and multithreading for parallel computing applications. Familiarity with alternative neural network models, en coding techniques, and information quantization methods. Experience in agile project management or collaborative, agile workflows. Knowledge of software development best practices such as version control (Git), code reviews, and test automation. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Ability to report and present i n English. Flexibility and willingness to work in an agile deep-tech start-up. Preferred: Basic electrical engineering knowledge, understanding chip architecture and circuit principles. Experience with agile development methodologies, especially Scrum. Familiarity with the TinyML framework for edge-based AI applications (desirable but optional ).
