Mould Design Engineer (3D CAD) – Container Glass Industry (m/f/d) Ardagh Glass Packaging – Nienburg (Germany); Knottingley (United Kingdom); Limmared (Sweden); Gostyń (Poland) Job Description The Mould Designer is responsible for creating fully detailed 3D models (digital twins) of mould gear using a 3D CAD system. This role ensures the design of high-precision mould equipment for container glass manufacturing, aligning with customer specifications, manufacturing feasibility, and industry standards. Responsibilities Develop fully detailed 3D models (digital twins) of mould gear components (baffles, blanks, moulds, neck rings, guide plates, etc.) Generate 2D technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and quality control Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet operational requirements Interpret customer specifications, glass container drawings, and technical requirements to develop accurate mould designs Maintain a digital database of mould designs, ensuring proper version control and documentation Assist in the development and standardization of mould design processes and best practices Work with suppliers to ensure design compatibility with machining, casting, and finishing processes Requirements Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar). Experience in parametric modelling and digital twin development Understanding of mould design principles, glass container manufacturing, and IS (Individual Section) machine operations Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, casting, and finishing Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical specifications Familiarity with material properties relevant to mould manufacturing (e.g., cast iron, bronze, stainless steel) Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems for design control Behavioural & Soft Skills: Attention to detail – Ability to design precise and accurate mould components Problem-solving mindset – Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and improve mould designs Collaboration & teamwork – Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and customers Time management – Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within deadlines Proactive & innovative – Willingness to propose and implement design improvements Strong communication skills – Ability to document and explain design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field Ideally 3-5 years of experience in 3D mould design within the container glass industry or a related manufacturing sector Experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment is a plus What we offer Work with cutting-edge 3D design technology Collaborate with an experienced engineering team to develop high-quality mould designs.
