About the Role As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (f/m/d), you will play a pivotal role in the commercialization of our Robotic Kitchen. You will be responsible for continuous improvement and innovation projects that drive efficiencies in our cutting-edge technology, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring these innovations to life. Your Daily Business Designing, testing, and releasing components of our Robotic Kitchen / automated kitchen. Interacting with suppliers and partners for technical alignments and overseeing the manufacturing of your designed parts and modules. Researching, testing, and troubleshooting components and modules. Working closely with other engineering areas (Robotics & Automation, Electrical Engineering) and departments (Production, Operations) to deliver a reliable product for our kitchen operations. Taking ownership of one or more modules of our Robotic Kitchen / automated kitchen, ensuring it meets target requirements and has up-to-date documentation. Participating in improvement projects and contributing to module development alongside other R&D team members. Base Qualifications An academic background in Mechanical Engineering—preferably a master’s degree. 4-7 years of experience designing parts and assemblies for complex machinery using parametric CAD—preferably SolidWorks. Solid experience in creating technical drawings for serial production. Familiarity with relevant norms and experience working with technical specifications, regulations, and conducting risk analysis/operability analysis/FMEA. A project/design portfolio that includes prototyping, testing, and design validation. Experience in designing for a variety of manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal, welding, 3D printing, injection molding, casting)—experience in designing kinematic products is a strong plus. Experience with agile project management, planning, and execution. Experience in supporting production/manufacturing operations. Experience working in a fast-paced culture. Experience with OKRs is a plus. Experience working in a commercial role/food industry is a strong plus. Excellent documentation and communication skills in English—fluent German is a plus.
