About us We see the semiconductor industry as a realm of possibility. We see opportunity. We see the profound impact that our graphene solutions will have in transforming the industry. We invite you to join us in driving change with our fundamentally human-centered approach, uniting bright minds around a shared vision. The vision is: Prove to everybody that you can make a fundamental change. Prove with your knowledge and skills how things can be done differently. Together, we can change the paradigm of how the world connects. About our technology The semiconductor industry’s growing demand for more powerful chips with higher bandwidth and lower power finds its solution in our technology. We connect chips to high-throughput, low-delay computing networks. The key lies in harnessing the physical properties of graphene to combine electronic computing with photonic communication, allowing countless chips to interact almost as if they were one. Our graphene photonic innovation increases computing power and efficiency to a new order of magnitude. In short, we connect chips to create powerful and energy-efficient networks, overcoming connectivity limitations in the semiconductor industry. We deliver the graphene solution. The Role We are currently expanding our team to fill the role of (Senior) Process Integration Engineer (f/m/d) and are seeking a skilled engineer with a deep understanding of the challenges in fabrication, developing systematic methods and strategies to address them, and releasing stable, scalable solutions for manufacturing graphene-based chip interconnects. The ideal candidate will effectively integrate this mono-layer material with existing semiconductor manufacturing techniques to create high-performance, reliable, and high-yield products. Initially, you will coordinate the integration activities at external manufacturing sites. Later, your role will evolve to establish and refine the process flows and integration schemes at our own 300 mm manufacturing facility. To join our team, you should be excited to: Develop and qualify process flows and integration schemes for integrated photonic devices to meet product requirements. Support our 200 mm integration partners in R&D and technology optimization to enable a smooth transition to mass production. This involves leading small to medium-sized integration and optimization projects and being a key member in complex development projects. Develop data collection strategies to provide quantitative data for evidence-based decision making. Interpret complex data and highlight key observations. Use insights from past and present observations to propose steps for optimizing process quality, improving manufacturability, and increasing yield. Communicate your observations clearly throughout the company to provide actionable recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with other teams, including optical and system design, characterization and graphene. Document product and process knowledge rigorously to ensure easy access to key findings and support transparent decision-making. Work with colleagues, such as process engineers, to define and refine processing specifications for Black Semi's 300 mm manufacturing facility. Follow change-management protocols to introduce evidence-based improvements to Black's manufacturing sequences. Handle ambiguity in dynamic environments with interconnected dependencies and be comfortable filling gaps in a startup environment. Provide technical mentorship to less experienced engineers on the team. Your Qualifications: Previous experience in a process integration role in a 200 mm or 300 mm semiconductor fabrication facility. Experience as a process engineer or in roles related to yield, integration, or new product introduction will also be considered. Proficiency in complex technology development projects handled independently or with minimal support. Holds a MSc or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, photonics, material sciences, or a related discipline. A BSc with significant industrial experience is also welcome Strong knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiments, and data analysis. Prior experience with statistical software tools (such as JMP) is required. Proficient in English, with strong skills in data compilation and clear reporting. Able to work in a cleanroom environment, wear cleanroom attire, and adhere to strict contamination protocols (daily to weekly frequency). Good to have skills: Project management skills, whether gained through courses or on-the-job experience, and a willingness to lead projects are highly valued. Experience working effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, such as managing external partners or suppliers, is a strong plus. Flexibility to travel (30% or more) to integration partners and manufacturing sites in Europe is a strong plus. Our work culture People Over Processes. At Black Semiconductor, flexibility is key—we ensure work adapts to life, not the other way around. We champion work-life harmony, where careers are meaningful and enriching. Our processes are human-centric, allowing you to focus on what matters. Let’s grow together. Your potential is our priority. We provide the autonomy to make a lasting impact and nurture your growth through a culture of continuous learning. We invest in your journey for professional and personal development.
