Job Description
As an optical engineer, you will be responsible for the development of sensor components for TOMRA sorting machines. This includes spectroscopic sensors, pulsed laser assemblies and laser triangulation systems - your ideas can directly contribute to the performance of our future systems.
You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of 9 motivated and skilled developers who have diverse backgrounds and specialize in areas such as optics, analogue electronics, embedded systems, software development, mechanical engineering, 3D printing and image processing.

Your tasks
1. Testing, evaluation, analysis and industrial production of (spectroscopic) imaging systems, high-power laser optics and their components.
2. Evaluation of optical parts from second sources/end-of-life (EOL).
3. Continuous improvement of optical sensor systems.
4. Definition, planning and implementation of test tools and setups.
5. Development of optical component specifications.
6. Providing technical support to production, strategic purchasing and quality assurance departments.
Qualifications
7. Master's degree or diploma in applied physics, optical engineering or similar field.
8. Experience with optical detectors, optical spectrometers and analogue electronics.
9. Background in physics (laser), preferably with knowledge and experience with pulsed lasers.
10. Knowledge of optical design tools ( Zemax) or circuit modelling software ( LTSPICE) is an advantage.
11. Broad technical interests: keen to expand knowledge in optics, electronics, optical material classification and software engineering.
12. Analytical and systematic approach with a drive for innovative solutions.
13. Programming skills, in particular in Python, are an advantage.
14. Fluent English, at least a basic knowledge of German.
15. Willingness to travel occasionally.
