Engineer (BSc/MSc) or Research Technician in Biochemistry (f/m/d)

The Haucke lab (www.leibniz-fmp.de/haucke) seeks to recruit an engineer or research technician to aid the analysis of proteins (e.g. lipid kinases and other enzyme, scaffolding multidomain proteins) involved in the control of organelle dynamics and cell signaling in health and disease. Our main focus is on the endolysosomal system [Lo et al Haucke, Nat Chem Biol 19, 18-27; Ebner et al Haucke, V. (2023) Cell 186, 5328-5346. doi: 10.1016/j.cell.2023.09.027; Lo et al Haucke (2022) Nat Struct Mol Biol. 29, 218- 228; Jang et al Haucke, V. (2022) Science 378, eabq5209. DOI: 10.1126/science.abq5209]. Current projects are supported by third-party grants including the European Research Council (ERC) and the German National Funding Agency (DFG).
The position is available from 1 April 2025 (or later) and will be time limited for an initial period of two years with the possibility of extension for up to 8 years (and possibly even beyond).
Qualifications:
We seek highly motivated, ambitious, and talented people to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an outstanding scientific environment to perform research. Candidates should have received appropriate training as a laboratory assistant (BTA, CTA or alike) or, alternatively, a BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, or molecular biology and proven experience in protein purification. All applicants are expected to benefit from excellent written and oral communication skills and display a high personal motivation to excel in science. The working language is English; knowledge of the German language is not required.
