The Mission Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and many other applications. Following the successful launches of our hosted payload missions, FOREST-1 in January 2022 and FOREST-2 in June 2023, we have achieved a major milestone in January 2025 with the launch of FOREST-3, our first fully in-house developed satellite. We are now focused on operating these satellites and preparing for our next major steps. This includes the launch of our OTC-P1 mission, our first constellation of 8 satellites (hosted payloads) scheduled for April 2025, as well as preparing for the launch of our second set of 8 satellites, OTC-P2, planned for the end of the 2025. As we continue to expand our satellite network and advance our in-house capabilities, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Orbital Dynamics Engineer to join our satellite operations team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting satellite operations by providing expertise in orbital mechanics, trajectory analysis, and mission planning. What you’ll be doing As an Orbital Dynamics Engineer you will: Become an expert in our propulsion module functionality Generate detailed maneuver plans and commissioning plans for satellite missions Ensure satellites reach their intended orbits and maintain their positions Develop and implement automation solutions for orbit maintenance procedures Collaborate closely with the Mission Control team and Mission Engineering team Analyze and optimize satellite maneuvers considering power budget and pointing capabilities Perform orbital analysis and trajectory design for satellite missions Conduct collision avoidance analysis and recommend mitigation strategies Contribute to the development of tools for orbital calculations and predictions Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders Relevant Skills Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field (Ph.D. preferred) Minimum of 3 years of experience in orbital dynamics and satellite operations Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and spacecraft dynamics Expertise in propulsion systems and their application in satellite operations Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ Experience with orbit determination and propagation software (e.g., STK, GMAT, OREKIT) Familiarity with space environment models and perturbation analysis Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills in English (knowledge of Greek or German is a plus) Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams Willingness to work flexible hours to support satellite operations as needed Our Benefits Virtual shares for all permanent employees (VSOPVirtual Share Option Program) Company pension scheme (bAV) in cooperation with Allianz Company accident insurance for all employees (insurance for accidents during work and leisure time around the world 24/7) Discount on lunch meals / Daily lunch vouchers Fully paid monthly pass for public transportation Exclusive offers for gym : Offer or benefit may vary depending on the work location We Offer You have the opportunity to become part of our firefighting mission from space and deliver the tools to better cope with natural disasters and mitigate climate change - could a job be any cooler?
