System Engineer (m/w/d)
How can you help us?
1. Design, build, configure advanced properties of, document, and administer server-based operating systems on physical and virtual hardware.
2. Perform advanced monitoring and troubleshooting of system-related issues including performance tuning and root cause analysis.
3. Participate in the management and maintenance of one or more Microsoft Azure tenants.
4. Participate in Disaster Recovery deployment, administration, and testing activities.
5. Configure and administer VMware virtualized environments including virtual machine management, troubleshooting, and virtual networking.
6. Participate in a production incident and be the escalation point for advanced issues on the team.
Are you our match?
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. At least 5 years of experience in system administration.
3. Experience with ticket-based tracking systems and on-call rotations and duties.
4. Certifications related to Windows operating systems or VMware vSphere preferred but not required.
5. Administering a Microsoft Azure cloud tenant preferred but not required.
6. Experience designing, installing, administering, and troubleshooting Windows Server operating system products in an enterprise environment.
7. Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory and related services.
8. Experience deploying, administering, and upgrading VMware vSphere environments including vCenter, ESXi, and vRealize Operations.
9. Advanced operational knowledge of shared storage systems that support virtualization deployments such as VMware vSphere.
10. Advanced operational knowledge of virtual networking concepts and configurations such as port groups, VLAN tagging, and channel bonding.
11. Knowledge of virtual machine backup configurations and deployment.
12. Hands-on knowledge and understanding of hardware configuration and troubleshooting.
13. Ability to resolve advanced problems such as system driver mismatches, protocol mismatches, operating system compatibility issues, etc.
14. Ability to resolve issues with Active Directory functionality such as group policy issues, sites and services configurations, and FSMO role transfer.
15. Work with management to communicate root cause analysis findings and participate in project scoping meetings of various sizes to determine whether or not a specific solution is feasible in the current environment.
16. Demonstrate the willingness and ability to improve performance and/or capabilities across all areas of responsibility utilizing formal and informal training to maintain skill sets.
17. Consistently demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
