Your Tasks Baker Hicks are one of the leading consultancies in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK and are expanding their power-team in the DACH region and are now seeking an ambitions Substation / Primary layout engineer to support this growth.
You will be an exepreinced engineer in the design and planning of transmission level onshore substations at voltages from 110k V to 400k V.
This will cover the production of Substation primary layouts, primary equipment specifications, equipment rating calculations, busbar short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, production of material specification lists, fault calculations, P&C wiring diagrams, protection requirements and system modelling.
You must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.

Act as lead substation engineer / planner Work closely with design teams in the UK, ensuring designs are provided in compliance with local standards Ensure design scope is delivered on time aand within budget Your Profile The candidate must have experience in the production of or management of designs, calculations, report and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure, in the DACH region The candidate must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English The candidate must have specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations The role will involve occasional travel to to Baker Hicks offices in Basel and London Traveling activity The duration of our projects is usually between 6 and 24 months.
Depending on the project and the project phase, the work location is mainly the project location at the customer, although mobile working from home is sometimes possible in consultation with the project management.
