The Role: Lead Fullstack Engineer - Findability Team
We’re looking for a Lead Fullstack Engineer to join our Findability Team, based in Munich. This role is critical to enhancing the dashboard, global navigation, and search functionalities within the Personio application, ensuring an intuitive and efficient user experience.
About the Findability Team
The Findability Team plays a crucial role in shaping the first impression users have of the Personio app, with the dashboard and navigation being some of the highest-traffic surfaces. The team is responsible for:
Developing dashboard widgets to improve user experience and accessibility of key features.
Enhancing global navigation for a seamless user journey across the platform.
Expanding global search capabilities, which currently support three main entities, with a long-term vision for broader search functionality.
What You'll Do:
Develop High-Impact Solutions – Design and build scalable, efficient backend systems using Kotlin and the JVM stack with a React FE.
Enhance Search and Navigation – Work on optimizing the global search functionality and dashboard navigation to improve discoverability within Personio.
Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, and other teams to align on priorities and deliver end-to-end solutions.
Improve System Performance – Optimize API performance, database queries, and caching strategies for high-traffic web solutions.
Full-Stack Contributions – While the role is backend-heavy, the ability to contribute to frontend work in React or TypeScript is beneficial.
Mentor and Lead – Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring high engineering standards within the team.
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of fullstack engineering experience, with expertise in Kotlin and JVM stack technologies.
Ability to contribute to frontend work, though not expected to be a full-time frontend engineer.
Experience working on high-traffic web applications and large codebases.
Strong understanding of API design, backend architecture, and distributed systems.
Knowledge of frontend technologies such as React or TypeScript is required, but the core focus of the role will be backend development.
Comfortable working in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers.
