Middle Mile Engineering Programs (MMEP) Innovation& Engineering is looking for a process and technical driven Sr.Innovation Engineer. The role is empowered to challenge status quoand directly influence future infrastructure designs. Processcentric solutions for cost optimal and most efficient MaterialHandling Systems and process equipment are the desired output. Astrong cooperation with EU and NA based engineering teams, ACES,Operations and team internal SME are key. Driving continuouslyinnovation and inspiring others to provide novel ideas to meet andexceed the current True North is a key role requirement. A processengineering driven mindset is required, operational understandingin Middle Mile or Last Mile are ideal. Building relationships withabove mentioned stakeholders, proven track of meeting and exceedingdesign KPI driven goals are requirements as well. The idealcandidate for this position will demonstrate relevant experience indesigning innovative material handling systems and processes. Theseconcepts and solutions should aim to exceed industry standards interms of efficiency, waste reduction, and automation. The candidatewill be responsible for developing lean and efficient materialhandling equipment (MHE) and processes that embody designexcellence. The need for such concepts and solutions may arise fromsite-specific requirements or long-term network optimizationinitiatives, where a systematic approach is taken to identify andaddress business needs. Key jobresponsibilities • Develop novel and process centric materialhandling system concepts and solutions (processes & MHE) for EUATS Middle Mile Nodes (MMN) – reflecting Amazon internal andexternal volume, • Foster a design excellence design approachstarting from business requirements towards optimal costs for newinfrastructure that strives to zero process waste, • Workingbackwards from True North processes and available data to close thegaps from current to desired state, • Create Material FlowDiagrams, • Create concepts and layouts with AutoCAD or similarsoftware at least in 2D, • Drive design reviews with partners toshare ideas and receive feedback, • Provide data driven process andengineering related advice to the leadership by written narrativebusiness documents. A day in the life Starting from the Inboundvehicle and volume profile, indicators of the to be processedvolume hourly distribution is available. This is the starting pointfor process centric design. Working backwards from minimum manualinteractions with shipments, the Sr. Innovation Engineer has tocreate material flow concepts and evaluate them against True Northprocesses, productivity and costs. Together with ACES, WWDE andFinance, the preferred concept has to be presented and aligned withleadership. After concept selection, the Sr. Innovation Engineerdrives the concepts further towards a detailed engineering designand a matching process description. During RFC and RFP (Request ForConcept / Proposal), the Sr. Innovation Engineer gatekeeps the highquality of the conceptual design and supports during vendorselection. As soon as the firm engineering phase starts, the Sr.Innovation Engineer will hand over the full responsibility of thedesign to WWDE and TES.
