The company develops innovative products for people who lead an active life - from smartwatches and diving watches to bike computers, cockpits for sports airplanes and radars for yachts.
Founded in 1989 by engineer friends Gary Burrell and Min Kao in Olathe, Kansas, Garmin today stands for a broad, highly differentiated product portfolio in the outdoor, fitness, aviation, automotive and marine sectors. The company also has its own research and development site in Würzburg (D). A central principle of success and the basis for the high quality is vertical integration: with a few exceptions, the development of the products and their entire technological ecosystem remains within the company - from the innovative sensor to the Garmin Connect app, from the idea, design and production through to sales and customer support.
