A Snapshot of Your Day Are you a recent graduate or early career professional eager to make a significant impact in the energy sector? Join Siemens Energy and help shape the future of Power Transmission. This unique opportunity offers you a full-time, permanent job at Siemens Energy, along with the opportunity to join our exclusive Grid Engineering Academy and participate in the Power Engineering Starter Program. The Power Engineering Starter Program is a unique upskilling program designed to equip you with the necessary project management, interpersonal and technical skills primarily in High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS). The program spans 12 months and runs in parallel with your full-time job, ensuring you gain valuable experience and knowledge without interrupting your career progression. This program includes: Learning cycles Networking events Classroom and virtual training On-the-job training Personal and professional development opportunities Insights into international locations You will actively contribute to the energy transition and immerse yourself in a thriving market environment where innovation and growth intersect. You will engage in projects that deliver the key technology to transmit electricity from where it's generated to where it's needed, and even connect countries. As a controls engineer in an HVDC project, you will be involved in multiple topics over the duration of the project, starting with the concept description for the control system and the parametrization of all required interfaces from the control system to other systems. You will continue with the implementation and verification of the control logic in MATLAB/SIMULINK according to customer requirements. Finally, you will be involved in loading the compiled control software onto the target hardware and performing tests on the hardware in the loop setup to verify the final performance. The job gives you the opportunity to be involved with diverse aspects of developing an HVDC system. You will work as part of a project team, together with other control engineers and engineers from other systems, such as Human-Machine Interface, Switchyard control, real-time simulation etc. You will have the opportunity to be involved in discussions with customers and play an active part in forming the new electrical grid that will lead us to a sustainable future. How You'll Make an Impact Design and implement open- and closed-loop control systems for HVDC Converter Systems Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments Contribute to the clarification of technical requirements within project teams as well as with customers Work with a close-knit team on a successful project development What You Bring A Bachelor, Master, or PhD Degree in Engineering (electrical, civil, mechanical, structural, plant, or similar) A strong motivation to learn and the willingness to invest in your development Passion for the energy transition and interest in building an international community with a team in various locations Excellent English skills to work in a multi-cultural environment and be flexible and mobile during the program Good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including modelling and verification Basic knowledge in converter technology as well as in open- and closed-loop controls Experience in the configuration of automation systems is an advantage About the Team Our Grid Technology division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid.
