The New Product Introduction (NPI) team is responsible for the introduction of new products, product variations and changes to our production lines of industrial ultrashort pulse lasers. In order to transfer new products into manufacturing we coordinate and collaborate with all involved departments and functions to deliver the best products for our customers. When it comes to a cost, NPI Team is a leading department to drive innovative manufacturing by e.g. implementation of sophisticated tools and automation driven build process. The NPI Software Engineer is responsible for delivering semi-automated/automated hardware & software driven solutions required to successfully launch new products to operations, fulfilling key KPIs. The position is highly cross-functional and requires effective team collaboration in a fast-paced and international environment. Close cooperation with various departments is required, including manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and product development team. Your responsibilities Introduction and transfer of new laser products, product variations and changes into manufacturing: Design, implement and maintain software and hardware tooling solutions, including user interface with a focus on manufacturing ease, its safety, cost and yield aspects Conducting software testing, debugging and verification on laser products under cleanroom environment Driving all stages of software development lifecycle from concept up to end of life in both issues and new requirements cases Creation of detailed tooling design documentation & user manuals Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies to ensure they are ready and suited for production Development of manufacturing concepts including production processes, automation concepts and key performance indicators Creation of requirements within our product development process to ensure Design for Manufacturing Support prototype and pilot laser builds prior to volume manufacturing phase Process Innovation: Ability to develop, refine, and implement new manufacturing processes in a laser production environment Planning and execution of projects (project management) from a concept up to manufacturing implementation Problem solving and risk management – systematically apply problem solving methods, define and implement measures and confirm effectiveness Cooperation in an international team and occasional business trips as a part of manufacturing’s transfer phase Your profile Bachelor or master’s degree in the field of engineering, degree in mechatronics, photonics engineering or similar field is preferred Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience Demonstrated programming skills (Python, C++, LabView, or similar) Hands-on experience with scientific or measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, CCD cameras) and basic mechanical/robotic systems (e.g., linear stages) Basic understanding of operations processes and manufacturing concepts with an emphasis on software & hardware manufacturing solutions Basic knowledge of mechanical and optical design principles Experience in project management, risk assessment, and process design Good technical English skills (spoken and written) Strong commitment to team goals and timelines Cleanroom Readiness: Willingness and capability to work under cleanroom conditions, following all relevant safety and quality protocols Understanding of lean principles, quality standards, and cost awareness Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and methods Readiness to travel (domestically or internationally) as needed Our benefits Flexible working time model in a 40-hour week Breakfast, pizza lunch, fruit basket and coffee, water, tea at your free disposal International yet familiar environment with strong collegial support across departments and locations Extensive employee support from an external advisory service Job bike offer Benefit program for company shares Market platform (access to many discounted branded products & services) Easy accessibility by car and public transport as well as free employee parking Contact Have we caught your interest?
