What’s unique about this role?
The system engineer role is responsible for complete management of the hardware, operating system, and application services of Lighthouse Global Datacenter and Office Services infrastructure. This role supports maximizing server availability, hardware and operating system configuration, performance reporting and tuning, capacity management, problem resolution (both in person and remotely), local office IT support, and testing. This includes solution formulation, implementation, documentation, and follow-up. The system engineer role requires attention to detail and 24×7 support availability by participating in an on-call rotation schedule.
What will this person do?
1. Manages and maintains global data center system’s hardware (primary focus in Germany region) and operating system configurations.
2. Maintains lighthouse global compliance standards by performing patching, and vulnerability remediation.
3. Provides system engineering tasks on Servers, SAN/NAS and Networking devices.
4. Manages and maintains core system applications: messaging, virtualization, business continuity, and data protection.
5. Provides problem troubleshooting, resolution and acts as a subject matter expert to the business on a defined area (Windows/Linux OS, data center infrastructure etc.)
6. Provides system and user administration in Frankfurt office (desktops, printers, wifi etc.), process system access requests, and provide system utilization dashboards.
7. Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established SOP policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
8. Provide technical support to review, analyze, responses and escalate (as needed) to incidents.
9. Collaborate with Lighthouse Application, Networking, Storage and Infosec teams.
10. Participate in working groups to identify innovative approaches to leverage technology in support of repeatable workflows.
11. Support security assessments and other activities to obtain and maintain authorization to operate.
12. Maintain secure configurations in accordance with security and regulatory compliance (ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, etc.) in a Hybrid Infrastructure Environment (Cloud and On-Premises).
13. Communicate with colleagues, management, customers, vendors and others in a courteous, professional manner.
14. Execute infrastructure lifecycle activities (from initial setup to decommission tasks, including data migrations as warranted).
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
16. Very good knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, network and storage)
17. Good understanding of Active Directory, DFS, DNS, DHCP, GPO, IPAM
18. Good understanding of virtualization platforms, VMWare, Horizon View and Hyper-V.
19. Very good understanding of scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Perl, or Python.
20. Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure.
21. Ability to work independently with high level of initiative and excellent troubleshooting skills, while maintaining and fostering collaboration across the team and enterprise stakeholders.
22. Strong skills analyzing and resolving outages and incidents.
23. Exceptional communication skills with internal and external clients prior and during maintenance activities.
24. Knowledge of SSL Certificate generation and deployment is a plus.
25. Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established SOP policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

27. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology
28. 3 – 5 years of Systems Administration experience preferred in the following areas
29. At least one security or digital forensics industry certifications, such as CISSP, EnCE, CCE, CFCE, MCFE, or similar
30. Managing virtual server systems in an enterprise environment (VMWare, Azure, Cisco/HPE servers, Pure/Nimble/Dell storage)
31. Managing automation tools in an enterprise environment
32. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
33. Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.
34. Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.
35. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
