We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen, currently with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.

We are actively seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our agile Life Science R&D department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your experience and expertise in developing mechanical components for mass spectrometers. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire process, starting from the conception of ideas to design phase, and the creation of essential production documentation. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring a seamless transition to series production.

A day in the Life:
You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of complex mechanical parts, including assemblies for high vacuum and ion optical parts. You will work alongside a highly motivated, multinational and interdisciplinary team in our Bremen office.
Your responsibilities will include actively participating in product development teams and project planning ensuring that your expertise is utilized in the decision-making process. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing production documentation and test procedures ensuring a seamless and transparent transfer to series production.
Your expertise will be crucial in the installation and testing of developed mechanical parts on mass spectrometers. As an Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to engage in on-the-bench and in-system design verification utilizing your skills to ensure the quality and functionality of the products.
You will also be involved in the calculation of product and process costs contributing to effective decision-making. Your technical support will extend to suppliers, assisting in their qualification process.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also be involved in Change Management (ECO) and Quality Control during product commercialization phase. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will be essential in ensuring the success of our products.

Keys to Success:
Education
1. University degree in mechanical engineering, or related fields
Experience
2. Possess extensive professional experience of designing high quality mechanical parts and assemblies, as part of complicated multi-component systems.
3. Demonstrate a solid understanding of Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools, preferably in the context of sophisticated analytical instruments. This knowledge enables effective decision-making and ensures efficient development processes.
4. Proven Extensive experience in 3-D solid modeling; SolidWorks preferred.
5. Showcase experience in working with low volume, high-value large complex systems such as scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems with the ability to handle complex projects and contribute to the success of high-value products.
6. Strong mechanical engineering background with in-depth knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and materials. This skillset is crucial in identifying and resolving issues, ensuring the highest quality and performance standards.
7. Experience in ‘should cost’ analysis of mechanical components and assemblies.
