RE&T Region NCE represents the corporate product & technology organisation Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) across the project lifecycle in the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit Northern & Central Europe (NCE), spanning west to east from Ireland to Poland and north to south from Norway to Austria and across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with On- & Offshore wind at the core. Our primary responsibilities centre around technical contracting, technical value engineering, customisation, implementation, and operation; regional product market strategy; and product integrity management. Our RE&T NCE ONS team comprises technical bid engineers, siting solutions engineers, technical development engineers, and power plant solution engineers. You will join the NCE Onshore Germany sub-region, where you will collaborate with a close-knit group of wind industry experts across several functions such as Sales, Product Management and Operations, supporting the green energy transition of Central European countries.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities as a siting solutions engineer will be to act as an outward-focused technical customer advisor, ensuring we present a fully optimised wind power plant on a bid or project request and reviewing and optimising customer-proposed layouts, configurations, and operational strategies.
After an intensive onboarding, you will be assigned to Vestas' siting activities in Germany, where you will collaborate closely with colleagues from our Global Siting Center in Chennai, India. Your tasks will, among others, consist of:
* Developing project-specific siting technical solutions to maximise project value while solidly managing technical risks
* Utilising knowledge of Vestas turbines and regional wind conditions to provide specialised expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders
* Identifying market requirements and trends to provide feedback towards the product development team and to promote Vestas' products & solutions within the owned markets
* Enabling efficient interfaces between Sales, Technical Functions, and external stakeholders
* Ensuring knowledge sharing and collaboration across regional and global siting teams through coaching, mentoring and open feedback
* Defending Vestas' siting results and supporting customers' efforts to finance Vestas turbines towards third-party consultants
* Facilitating market-specific internal improvement projects, developing and coordinating the continuous improvement of tools and processes, and collaborating on projects utilising siting data to create value
Qualifications
As a minimum, a bachelor's degree in science or engineering (mathematics, physics, environmental science, meteorology, physics, mechanical, aerospace, renewable energy, or wind power engineering) is required. Also, other fields to be considered together with the candidate's experience
* Knowledge of statistics and mechanical loads principles is required
* Knowledge of meteorology and wind resource assessment is beneficial
* Knowledge of IEC 61400 standards is beneficial
* Experience in working with WindPro and WAsP is beneficial
* Experience in working with OpenWind, CFD or Mesoscale modelling for wind power applications is beneficial
* Additional coding skills (e.g. Python or MatLab) are beneficial
