Who you are: We are looking for a motivated Senior Device Engineer for the development of innovative brain machine interfaces at the Innovation Center. As part of the Bioelectronics program team, you are responsible for engineering of novel neurostimulators related to conceptualization, design, feasibility, technical transfer until regulatory submissions. Specifically, the task is directed at design and implementation of the electronic components interfacing with the neural electrodes, such as the stimulation, recording, and data transmission units. As an Engineer and device subject matter expert, you are in charge of the medical device design control process, according to the requirements of 21CFR820.30 and ISO 13485. You will also coordinate interactions with external researchers and partners, as well as tightly collaborate with data scientists. As the Senior Device Engineer you will work within our interdisciplinary team of engineers, physicians and scientists, developing and optimizing next generation medical devices. In close collaboration with the team and the Head of Bioelectronics you will be responsible for the success of various projects at the current frontier of scientific knowledge in bioelectronic medicine at our headquarters in Darmstadt.
Who you are:
* Scientist by training (PhD) in electronic engineering or a similar field
* Strong experience with neurophysiological recording and modulation
* Solid experience with biomedical device engineering and the medical device design process
* Understanding of signal decoding and machine learning principles
* Strong team player; able to work within a highly multidisciplinary environment
* Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
* Knowledge of regulatory frameworks around medical devices, documentation, QA and 21CFR820.30 and ISO 13485 standards
* Industrial working experience with device development or within a medical context
