You will contribute to the modernization of C2 systems by designing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring reliable data availability, and enhancing the integration of mission-critical systems across operational environments. This role will directly support USAREUR-AF missions through the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data systems that drive decision-making in real-time operations. HOW A DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Design, build, and optimize data pipelines that integrate with USAREUR-AF Command and Control (C2) systems, including sensors, platforms, and other operational technologies. Work alongside C2 system engineers and mission planners to ensure that data is processed, transformed, and delivered for real-time decision-making in dynamic operational environments. Ensure the reliability and performance of data systems supporting C2 applications, including handling large-scale, high-velocity data from diverse sources. Integrate data across cloud, tactical edge, and on-premise environments to enable seamless flow of mission-critical data. Implement security protocols and access control measures to ensure compliance with DoD and Army security standards, especially in operational theaters. Collaborate with data scientists and software developers to enable data analytics and machine learning workflows for advanced C2 capabilities. WHAT YOUu2019LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Certification: Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security, CISSP, CISM). Required Experience: 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, focusing on mission-critical or real-time data systems. Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and familiarity with data pipeline frameworks (ETL/ELT). Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) and familiarity with Army/DoD environments, including operational and tactical data flows. Strong understanding of Command and Control (C2) systems, architectures, and their role in military operations. Security Clearance Level: Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to work in high-pressure environments where rapid data-driven decisions are critical. Preferred Skills : Experience with the integration of data systems supporting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) or similar initiatives. Familiarity with military-grade data security protocols and data governance practices. Experience with modern data management tools and techniques such as Kafka, Apache NiFi, or real-time streaming technologies. Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation, and DevOps processes. Knowledge of machine learning and data analytics tools, with an emphasis on applications in C2 decision-making. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
