Role Purpose The Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving controls systems for manufacturing automated equipment. This includes HMI Design, PLC Design, Paneling, and related equipment layouts. Is involved during the installing and development and new equipment.Ensure compliance with plant metrics, safety, quality, and process documentation. Key Responsibilities Maintain and improve control systems for automated manufacturing equipment and being involve of this controls systems Ensure installation and commissioning meet design and operation standards integration Design HMI, PLC, Hardwire and Panel Layouts Create and/or update schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or other CAD software Troubleshoot control systems as needed electrical, pneumatic and coding Provide guidance and train less experienced team members when required Develop and/or revise internal procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our processes Monitoring KPIs on compliance Implement Safety and Ergonomic improvements on Designed areas Utilize statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE/TRIZ methodologies to deploy and validate Automation solutions Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges, support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution, aligned with documentation policies Propose and implement iKaizen and Safety iKaizen (ergonomic devices and processes) to enable a safe work environment; support and perform 5S implementation in work area to achieve Plant goal Participate as a T1 CSC when required Experiences/Education - Required B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Science Engineering 2 to 4 years of experience in similar role 1 year of experience integrating controls systems/equipment 2 years of experience with serial and Ethernet communications and SCADA systems 2-4 years of experience programing and/or improving PLCs/HMIs/VFDs and other related control systems(AB RSLogix, Controllogix, Siemens S7 and G&L) Experiences/Education - Desired Computer skills include coding English proficient Strong electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Results driven and execution oriented Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Programing languages knowledge Fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, control systems integration, controls, architectures, electro-mechanical drive systems, and safety systems Troubleshoot controls and electric systems as needed Corning Puts YOU First We are committed to supporting your health, financial, career development, and life goals as you grow professionally and personally to achieve your highest potential.
