Hauptaufgaben Under the general the supervision of a Lead or Supervisor, Installation Branch of the 6981st CSG, the incumbent independently operates one or more types of heavy engineering equipment, such as graders, scoop loaders, trench diggers, dredgers, dozers, caterpillars, and similar systems, used to excavate, refill, grade, and level earth to rough specifications. Typical projects involve breaking new ground for trails and roads, and excavating for canals, tunnels, and construction sites. Operates close to buildings, trees, rocks, and other obstructions. Works to fine specifications on difficult terrain from grade stakes set by construction planners. Recognizes malfunctions of the assigned equipment and eliminates minor faults. Adjusts attachments for proper positioning. Depending on the type of assignment, utilizes concrete paving machines and compactors. Assists and advises on the correct transportation of engineering machines, and loads and unloads equipment. Observes safety regulations governing the statutory rules on safe operation of engineering equipment. Uses protective and supporting devices attached to assigned equipment. As an Engineering Equipment Operator, you will operate one or more types of heavy equipment such as graders, tractors, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers to push, pull, dig, pile or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, or refuse. Perform operations such as, but not limited to loading dump trucks, maintaining refuse dump, clearing brush, tree stumps and rocks. Adjust attachments for proper level, angle, or depth, according to the work to be done and the type of equipment used. Work is generally done on flat or rolling terrain, refuse dumps and construction sites with simple terrain problems. Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment: adding oil, lubricating moving parts, inspecting equipment for signs of wear or damage. Assists the telecommunication technicians with installation work during projects. Performs work in the installation and relocation of cables in ducts and buildings. Lays cables in soil, cable shafts and within buildings. Installs cable ducts within buildings required for the entire buildings installation and data management. Performs wall and ceiling breakthroughs by means of drilling holes. Assists in the setting up and dismantling of material storage. Performs tasks at considerable height (e.g., on poles, scaffolds and ladders). In completion of assignments, operates various kinds of power tools. Depending on operational requirements, operates motor vehicles to transport personnel and material to, from and between project sites, requiring the incumbent to possess the appropriate German and US military driver's licenses. A4-5716-06: Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung als Baugeräteführer/in PLUS 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe 5 oder in vom Schwierigkeitsgrad vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten, welche selbständig ausgeübt wurden./ Completed vocational training as Engineering Equipment Operator PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent.
