Lead Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Position Summary
The Lead Software Engineer will work within the Cardio-Pulmonary Business Franchise as part of the SW Team on the development of new products.
In this role you work specifically on life-sustaining devices such as Heart-Lung Machines or other products of the cardio-pulmonary portfolio (e.g. Auto-Transfusion Systems, Heater-Cooler) on a wide spectrum of tasks during the concept, design, and verification phase.
General Responsibilities
* Designs and develops high safety Embedded Software, focusing on HMI, sensors, and actuators.
* Reviews Product requirements with Product Manager and transforms requirements into Epics, User Stories, and Design.
* Defines the Software Architecture of a Software Subsystem or SW Feature in collaboration with the SW Architect.
* Leads technically the development of complex Software features, either affecting one Subsystem or multiple subsystems, covering the full Software Development lifecycle.
* Ensures the quality of the Software deliverables through up-to-date static/dynamic code analysis tools and by developing Unit Tests, Code Reviews in line with internal Quality standards.
Skills and Experience
* Several years of experience in the development of embedded systems with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
* Some years of experience in the development of embedded systems with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
* Demonstrated ability to lead development of medium scale features/projects using agile methodologies.
* Proven Agile Development experience, preferably Agile Certified Practitioner.
* Strong programming skills in C++.
* Knowledge of microprocessor-based embedded systems, mainly ARM processors.
* Experience with complex Graphic Frameworks (e.g. Qt) and developing complex Graphic User Interfaces.
* Experience with RTOS, e.g. FreeRTOS, VxWorks or Embedded Linux.
* Experience with static/dynamic code analysis tools (e.g. Clang-Tidy/Clazy, Polyspace) as well as with SW Unit test frameworks (e.g. Google Test and QTest Library).
* Knowledge of SCM tools such as SVN, GIT, JIRA, Eclipse IDE, ClearCase, etc.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools, e.g. Jenkins, Azure DevOPS.
* Knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management tools such as Polarion.
* Knowledge of EU, US, and international medical quality, safety standards (IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485).
* Open-minded.
* Hands-on attitude.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly verbal skills to effectively communicate with multiple individuals and stakeholders.
* Good command of the English language. Fluency in German language is appreciated.
* Able to work in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
* Occasional travel may be required.
