We are seeking a detail-oriented Test Engineer to execute comprehensive testing programs for mechatronic automation systems – focussing on Process metric validation such as throughput and quality. In this role, you'll work closely with Performance Engineers to implement test plans, conduct experiments, and collect critical performance data. You will be responsible for setting up test equipment, managing vendors during the test, and ensuring data quality throughout the testing process. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be methodical in their approach to testing, have experience with data collection systems and be curious in seeking to validate their theories. You'll help develop and document testing procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing capabilities. This role requires hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, proficiency in data collection and basic analysis, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment. Join us in shaping the future of industrial automation where your expertise in experimental design and performance optimization will have direct impact on our customers' success. Key job responsibilities As a Test Engineer, you will be the cornerstone of our testing operations, executing structured test plans and Design of Experiments (DOE) as defined by Performance Engineers and Hardware Development Engineers. Your primary focus will be completing the testing whilst ensuring the relevant data has been captured, whether it’s time based, image based or another novel metric. You'll be responsible for collecting, organizing, and performing initial analysis of test data, ensuring the highest standards of data quality and documentation. The role involves monitoring equipment performance, maintaining testing systems, and supporting troubleshooting efforts when anomalies arise. You will work collaboratively with engineering teams to improve test methodologies and contribute valuable insights during technical discussions. Daily activities include ensuring compliance detailed test documentation, and presenting results to stakeholders. Your attention to detail and methodical approach will be crucial in providing the reliable test data needed to drive product improvements and validate system performance. A day in the life You will be based in our Innovation Centre where your day begins with reviewing the test plan for a new automation system, preparing the test environment with the required sensors and measurement equipment. By mid-morning, you're running carefully designed experiments, meticulously documenting each test condition and capturing high-quality data. You might spend time calibrating sensors for precision measurements or setting up high-speed cameras to capture motion sequences. During lunch, you review preliminary results with the Performance Engineer, identifying any anomalies that need further investigation. The afternoon could involve modifying test plans to accommodate different product variants, processing the morning's test data, and preparing summary reports. You'll end your day by setting up automated overnight tests and ensuring all data is properly backed up and documented. Throughout the day, you're the guardian of data quality and testing integrity, ensuring our experiments provide reliable insights for product development.
