This is a hybrid role, and our office is based in Berlin Charlottenburg. As a Backend Engineer, you will Develop backend solutions in an Agile, test-and-learn environment. Lead code quality, promoting test automation and best practices to ensure reliability and consistency across the codebase. Participate in architecture and design decisions, and contribute to code reviews to enhance the team’s knowledge base. Work with Product, UX, and Business teams to ensure we’re solving the right problems for our users. Mentor fellow backend engineers to foster a collaborative, growth-focused team environment. Stay informed about industry trends and pursue learning opportunities to strengthen collaboration Experience creating detailed technical documentation within the team. Who you are: You’re an experienced Backend Engineer with a solid technical foundation and a user-centric mindset. You enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating with accomplished peers, and driving improvements in a dynamic, agile setting. You have a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields or equivalent practical experience. You bring at least 4 years of development experience as a Backend developer with Kotlin/Java and Spring Boot. Expertise in designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful (micro-) services. Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB). Proficiency with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) Knowledge of build and deploy tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle, Docker, Jenkins) and experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS. Mentorship Experience. Commitment to Agile methodologies, iterative development, and continuous improvement.
