We are looking for a Reliability Engineer (m/f/d) as soon as possible.
The position is to be filled permanently.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering is the application of math and science to solve real world problems.
The Maintenance Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities within our organization. This position is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and implementing strategies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our maintenance processes. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement maintenance strategies, monitor equipment performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Equipment Criticality Assessment: Reliability engineers working with process teams determine the criticality of equipment within each area of manufacturing. By understanding the importance of different assets, maintenance can prioritize their efforts and allocate resources accordingly. Reliability engineers provide insight into the impact of equipment failures on production, safety, and cost of repairs.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies: Collaborate with maintenance and process teams to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies that optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Perform reliability analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of equipment performance data, failure patterns, and maintenance records to identify potential areas for improvement. Use this analysis to develop proactive maintenance plans and strategies.
• Monitor equipment performance: Utilize various monitoring techniques, such as condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance tools, to track and evaluate equipment performance. Identify trends, anomalies, and potential failures to take proactive measures.
• Drive continuous improvement: Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance practices, processes, and equipment reliability. Collaborate with process teams to develop and execute action plans.
• Conduct root cause analysis: Investigate equipment failures and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions. Implement preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
• Provide technical expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on maintenance reliability and provide technical guidance and support to maintenance and process teams. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• Develop and maintain documentation: Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to maintenance strategies, procedures, and equipment performance. Ensure that all relevant information is accessible to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Spare Parts Management: The reliability engineer will provide input on equipment criticality and failure rates to guide the spare parts management decisions.
Reliability Engineers and Capital Project Engineers often collaborate to ensure that new assets or modifications to existing assets are designed and implemented with reliability in mind. Here's how they interface:
• Design Input: Reliability Engineers provide valuable input during the design phase of capital projects. They contribute their expertise in reliability engineering principles, failure analysis, and maintenance strategies. By participating in design reviews, they can identify potential reliability issues, suggest improvements, and ensure that the new assets are designed for optimal performance and longevity.
• Reliability Specifications: Reliability Engineers work with Capital Project Engineers to develop reliability specifications for new assets or modifications. They define reliability targets, performance indicators, and maintenance requirements that should be considered during the design and construction phases. These specifications help align the project objectives with long-term reliability goals.
• Risk Assessment: Reliability Engineers collaborate with Capital Project Engineers to conduct risk assessments for capital projects. They analyze the potential risks associated with equipment failures, system downtime, and maintenance requirements. By identifying and assessing these risks, they can recommend risk mitigation strategies and design features that enhance equipment reliability.
• Vendor Selection: Reliability Engineers may assist Capital Project Engineers in the selection of equipment vendors. They can provide input on vendor reliability track records, equipment performance data, and maintenance requirements. This collaboration ensures that equipment selected for the project meets reliability standards and aligns with the organization's long-term maintenance and operational goals.
• Commissioning and Start-up: Reliability Engineers work closely with Capital Project Engineers during the commissioning and start-up phases of new assets. They ensure that proper reliability tests, inspections, and maintenance procedures are followed. They may also provide training and guidance to operations and maintenance teams to ensure a smooth transition from project completion to ongoing reliability management.
• Lessons Learned and Feedback: Reliability Engineers collaborate with Capital Project Engineers to capture lessons learned from capital projects. They analyze equipment performance data, maintenance records, and feedback from operations and maintenance teams. This feedback helps improve future capital projects by incorporating reliability best practices and addressing any reliability issues identified during the project execution.
By collaborating throughout the project lifecycle, Reliability Engineers and Capital Project Engineers can ensure that new assets or modifications are designed, implemented, and commissioned with a focus on reliability. This partnership helps minimize future maintenance challenges, optimize asset performance, and maximize return on investment.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
• Technical Expertise: A maintenance reliability engineer should possess a strong understanding of the equipment they are responsible for. This includes knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, instrumentation, and other relevant technical aspects.
• Analytical Skills: They should be able to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on the data collected. This helps in predicting and preventing equipment failures, optimizing maintenance schedules, and improving overall reliability.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: An effective maintenance reliability engineer should be a skilled problem solver. They need to be able to diagnose and troubleshoot issues promptly and efficiently, finding root causes and implementing effective solutions to prevent recurring problems.
• Proactive Mindset: Instead of waiting for equipment failures to occur, a maintenance reliability engineer should take a proactive approach. This involves implementing preventive maintenance strategies, such as condition-based monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
• Collaboration and Communication: They should have excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with different teams, including operations, maintenance, and management. This helps in understanding their needs, conveying maintenance requirements, and fostering a culture of reliability across the organization.
• Continuous Improvement: An effective maintenance reliability engineer should constantly strive for improvement. This involves staying updated with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in reliability engineering. They should also encourage feedback from the team and actively seek opportunities to optimize maintenance processes.
