The engineer authors and updates documentation, diagrams, and SOPs on new and existing GIS systems. The engineer stays current on operating systems, GIS software, hardware, and technological developments to recommends improvements to enhance mission and operational effectiveness. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance the GIS system. HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT - Plan for all phases of systems engineering to deliver innovative solutions - Guides system development and implementation through system engineering management plans and system integration plans, test plans, implementation, operation, and decommission. - Design, Development, Installation configuration, and deployment of GIS systems - Design, Development, Installation, configuration, and deployment of virtualization infrastructure - Design, Development, Installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise storage platforms - Analyzes complex system issues and takes actions to rapidly resolve problems - Develops technical documentation, system architecture, SOPs, diagrams, and system design documentation - Validates the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility - Gather theater-wide customer requirements, design, and implement system architectures to ensure high availability and low application latency for the ESRI suite of services. - Configure and deploy the entire suite of ESRI ArcGIS applications to suit customer requirements. - Work with a team of developers to integrate ArcGIS services into business process specific web applications. - Manage geospatial content, create new maps and overlays, implement ArcGIS Story Maps. - Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues and propose courses of action to leadership WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent technical training and work/military experience. - Required Experience: 5 years experience - Required Technical Skills: Experience with storage systems and common virtualization technologies; Experience configuring and administrating Windows-based server and Linux operating systems; Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Application Suite; Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores - Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI - Required Skills and Abilities: Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving system problems and design flaws; Experience in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and evaluation; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team; Strong technical writing skills required. - Location: Wiesbaden Germany GDIT IS YOUR PLACE: - 401K with company match - Comprehensive health and wellness packages - Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career - Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications - Cutting-edge technology you can learn from - Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays DefenseOCONUS The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
